Responsibilities
Ensure product releases reach customers defect-free and within agreed timelines by owning structured manual and automated testing across web, mobile, and merchant platforms in all operating countries.
The role has a particular focus on payment, refund, coupon, checkout, and other high-impact business flows, where defects can directly result in financial loss, customer dissatisfaction, or operational impact.
The QC Tester provides a documented quality gate before release, helping reduce production incidents, improve release confidence, and shorten release cycles.

- Test Planning & Test Case Management
- Develop, review, maintain, and execute structured test cases covering golden paths, edge cases, and negative scenarios.
- Prepare test plans and regression test suites based on product requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure adequate test coverage across web, mobile, and merchant platforms.
- Define and maintain effective manual and automated testing approaches to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Participate in requirement and feature discussions to identify potential quality risks and testing scenarios early in the development cycle.
- Manual & Automated Testing
- Perform both manual and automated testing across web, mobile, and API environments.
- Conduct functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
- Design, execute, and maintain automated test scripts and regression suites where applicable.
- Execute automated test suites, analyze results, and investigate failures.
- Validate new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and end-to-end user journeys.
- Execute structured regression testing before every release and provide clear QC sign-off.
- Re-test resolved defects and ensure they meet the expected acceptance criteria.
- API Testing
- Perform API testing using Postman or similar tools.
- Send API requests and validate responses, status codes, headers, and JSON payloads.
- Create and maintain Postman collections and/or scripted API regression suites.
- Validate API behavior for positive, negative, edge-case, and error scenarios.
- Mobile Application Testing
- Test mobile applications on real Android and iOS devices.
- Install and validate different application builds and verify critical user flows.
- Identify and report device- or OS-specific issues.
- Validate app functionality, usability, navigation, and key business journeys across supported devices.
- Web Application Testing
- Test web applications across major browsers and supported environments.
- Use browser Developer Tools, particularly the Network and Console tabs, to investigate issues and capture technical evidence.
- Validate responsive behavior, UI functionality, integrations, and critical user journeys.
- Multi-Country & Multi-Language Testing
- Test products across all operating countries and supported environments.
- Validate Arabic and English experiences, including RTL/LTR layouts.
- Test country-specific configurations, currencies, content, and business rules.
- Ensure localized features and user journeys function correctly across different markets.
- Payment & Transaction Testing
- Perform end-to-end testing of payment, refund, cancellation, and transaction-related flows.
- Test payment gateway integrations, including successful, failed, declined, cancelled, and refunded transactions.
- Experience with Paymob, PayTabs, Fawry, or similar is highly preferred.
- Validate that transaction status, amounts, refunds, and related records are correctly reflected across relevant systems.
- Defect Management
- Log and track defects using Jira or similar issue-tracking tools.
- Provide clear reproduction steps, expected vs. actual results, severity, environment/build details, screenshots, videos, logs, and other relevant evidence.
- Work closely with developers, Product, and other stakeholders to investigate and resolve defects.
- Re-test fixes promptly and ensure defects are properly closed.
- Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure software releases meet defined quality standards and business requirements.
- Participate in release readiness discussions and contribute to risk assessment.
- Identify gaps in existing testing processes and recommend improvements.
- Continuously improve manual test coverage, automated regression suites, and overall testing methodologies.
- Advocate for quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in software quality assurance/testing, with hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing.
- Solid understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC, and defect life cycle.
- Experience with Jira or similar issue/test management tools.
- Hands-on experience with API testing using Postman or similar tools.
- Experience testing web and mobile applications, preferably on real Android and iOS devices.
- Experience with functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Good understanding of SQL and database testing.
- Basic understanding of Git and release branches/build management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong ownership of quality.
- Test automation experience using Playwright, Selenium, Maestro, or similar tools.
- Experience reading application logs to investigate failures.
- Basic performance/load testing knowledge using JMeter, k6, or similar tools.
- Experience creating or maintaining automated/API regression suites.
- Experience with payment gateway testing.
- ISTQB or similar certification.
- Experience testing multi-language, multi-country, RTL, and localized products.
- Basic programming/scripting knowledge using JavaScript, Python, Java, or similar.

- Bugs Caught Before Release
- At least 85% of bugs are identified by QC before reaching customers.
- Zero critical bugs in payment, refund, or coupon flows reach production.
- On-Time Release Testing & QC Sign-Off
- 100% of releases receive the required full test run across all applicable countries/environments.
- Testing is completed within 2 working days of code freeze.
- No release proceeds to production without documented QC sign-off or an agreed exception.
- Bug Quality & Re-Test Turnaround
- Less than 10% of reported bugs are returned as Cannot Reproduce.
- Fixed bugs are re-tested and closed within 1 working day of becoming available for re-testing.
- Bug reports consistently include clear reproduction steps, expected/actual results, severity, environment/build information, and supporting evidence.
