Core responsibilities
- Develop and implement quality systems: Create and maintain quality procedures, standards, and specifications to ensure products and services meet quality benchmarks and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor production: Oversee manufacturing or production processes to ensure they are efficient and meet quality, safety, and legal standards.
- Collaborate and communicate: Work with other departments, suppliers, and external stakeholders to communicate quality requirements and resolve issues.
- Inspect and approve: Review raw materials, inspect final products, and accept or reject them based on quality standards.
- Manage staff: Hire, train, supervise, and guide QC inspectors and other quality control staff.
- Analyze and improve: Gather and analyze data to monitor performance, identify areas for improvement, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
- Document and report: Maintain detailed records of quality control activities, document.
Key activities
- Conducting internal and external audits to assess compliance.
- Managing nonconformance reports and taking corrective action.
- Ensuring all necessary quality control documentation is complete and handed over.
- Coordinating quality-related activities with site subcontractors and vendors.
Qualifications
Education and certifications
- Bachelor's degree: A degree in Food Technology, or a related field.
- Advanced degrees: Advanced degrees are preferred.
- Certifications: Certifications such as HACCP and Six Sigma
- Experience
- Industry experience: A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in quality control/assurance within the food or pet food manufacturing industry .
- QA/QC system experience: Direct experience administering and auditing programs like HACCP is essential.
- Management experience: Experience in a leadership or management role is often required.
- Technical skills:
- Quality systems: In-depth knowledge of ISO 22000, and other relevant standards.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software or ERP systems.
- Auditing: Experience with internal and external audits, including knowledge of sanitation and pest control.
- Soft skills:
- Leadership and communication: Ability to lead teams, motivate employees, and communicate effectively with all levels of management and other departments.
- Analytical and problem-solving: Strong skills in data analysis, root cause analysis, and problem-solving are critical.
- Attention to detail: Essential for ensuring compliance and maintaining product quality.
