Quality Inspector Mechanical

Location: Abu Dhabi

Industry: Shipbuilding / Ship Repair

About the Role

The Quality Inspector Mechanical ensures all mechanical materials, equipment, and production/installation activities onboard vessels comply with project specifications, classification standards (Tasneef, Lloyd's, IEC, ISO, OSHAD), and internal procedures. The role supports inspections across workshops, onboard ships, commissioning stages, and offsite work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review drawings/specifications and prepare inspection plans.
  • Inspect mechanical materials, equipment, and workshop/onboard installations.
  • Verify compliance certificates from OEMs and classification societies.
  • Monitor mechanical production quality throughout project stages.
  • Schedule, witness, and document mechanical system testing.
  • Ensure calibration of all measuring/testing equipment.
  • Conduct final inspections with clients and suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and support closure of non-conformities.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (QHSE, Projects, Supply Chain) and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to QHSE and ISO standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, or Marine Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical quality inspection within shipbuilding or ship repair.
  • Strong knowledge of classification rules, mechanical systems, and quality standards.
