QC Technical Manager – Lubricants & Blending Operations

Location: Egypt

Industry: Lubricants / Oil & Gas / Blending / Manufacturing

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced QC Technical Manager to lead Quality Control, Product Formulation, Technical Support, Product Stewardship, and Laboratory Operations for a lubricants blending and manufacturing business.

The role will be responsible for managing formulations, ensuring product quality compliance, supporting blending operations, leading technical customer services, maintaining ISO certifications, and coordinating with regional and global teams regarding product development, regulatory compliance, and raw materials management.

The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise in lubricants, blending operations, SAP Material Management, laboratory management, and industrial quality systems.

Key Responsibilities

Formulation Management

  • Study market needs and technical requirements related to lubricants product portfolio.
  • Support decisions regarding local blending opportunities and product rationalization.
  • Manage formulations and specifications for all lubricant products in coordination with HQ technical teams.
  • Lead pilot blending studies and validate production feasibility.
  • Conduct product cost studies for tenders, product launches, and alternative formulations.
  • Manage articles creation and coding process through UMDS Dashboard and coordination with Harmony team.
  • Assess components cost trends and optimize formulations based on raw material availability and cost efficiency.
  • Support localization initiatives and identify opportunities for cost savings and forex optimization.

Lubricants Material Management (SAP MM)

  • Act as SAP Material Management (MM) Key User for lubricants operations.
  • Create and maintain material master local views and plant extensions.
  • Manage articles lifecycle including activation, extensions, and phase-out processes.
  • Create and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials) for products and packaging materials.
  • Generate new material codes for labels, cartons, pails, packs, and packaging materials.

Customer Technical Support

  • Support sales teams with:
  • Product recommendations
  • Product alternatives
  • Product trials
  • Lubrication surveys
  • Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) programs
  • Participate in technical tenders and provide competitive technical solutions.
  • Conduct field trials and provide Proof of Performance (POP) and Return on Experience (REX) reports.
  • Deliver after-sales technical support and customer visits.
  • Analyze ANAC used oil reports and provide recommendations.
  • Support procurement team in sourcing suitable raw materials.

Training & Technical Knowledge

  • Lead lubricants technical training programs internally and externally.
  • Train customers and distributors on:
  • Product applications
  • Product alternatives
  • Lubrication practices
  • Used oil sampling and analysis

Technical Services

  • Manage used oil monitoring services (ANAC) and dashboard performance.
  • Support sales teams in developing technical service offerings to attract customers.
  • Provide oil filtration and value-added services to B2B customers.
  • Support and maintain digital platforms such as distributor portals and LMDB.
  • Provide technical feedback and recommendations to customer service teams and social media inquiries.

Quality Control & Product Quality

  • Custodian of quality control systems across the full product portfolio.
  • Coordinate with HQ for:
  • Base oils
  • Additives
  • Packaging materials development
  • Labels approvals
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Validate packaging specifications and artwork approvals.
  • Develop QC plans to ensure packaging and product quality consistency.
  • Conduct supplier quality audits alongside Supply Chain teams.
  • Lead customer complaint investigations and validate corrective actions.

Blending Plant Support

  • Supervise laboratory operations and ensure effectiveness of testing activities.
  • Monitor Round Robin and ANAC performance indicators.
  • Manage ISO 17025 laboratory certification and compliance.
  • Develop and update:
  • Blending procedures
  • Compatibility matrix
  • Slops management
  • Quality Control Plans
  • Support blending plant implementation of technical standards and guidelines.
  • Conduct internal audits for:
  • ISO 9001
  • ISO 14001
  • ISO 45001
  • ISO 50001
  • ISO 17025
  • Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.

Product Stewardship & Regulatory Compliance

As Local Product Steward, responsibilities include:

  • Ensure chemical regulatory compliance within the country.
  • Coordinate with Regional Product Steward teams.
  • Maintain updated list of:
  • Commercial products
  • Raw material SDSs
  • Regulatory documents
  • Conduct regulatory monitoring and compliance verification for raw materials and finished products.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international chemical regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in lubricants manufacturing, blending, quality control, or technical management.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Lubricants formulations
  • Base oils and additives
  • Blending operations
  • SAP MM
  • Laboratory management
  • ISO systems
  • Experience managing ISO 17025 certified laboratories.
  • Strong technical customer support and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience in industrial quality management systems and audits.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.
