Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
Carry out sampling and laboratory testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished feed to verify conformity with approved specifications, providing accurate and timely results that support material acceptance, product release, and formulation decisions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Sampling & Inspection
- Apply sampling plans for incoming raw materials (including bulk and vessel receipts), in-process materials, and finished products.
- Coordinate sampling activities with QC Samplers.
- Verify sample identification, retention, and chain of custody.
Laboratory Testing
- Perform chemical and physical analyses, including moisture, protein, fat, fiber, ash, pellet durability, and particle size.
- Conduct NIR analysis and mycotoxin screening in line with approved methods.
- Record results accurately in the laboratory system/ERP.
Results & Product Release
- Compare results against specifications and recommend acceptance, hold, or rejection of materials and products.
- Issue certificates of analysis and share results with Production, Nutrition, and Procurement.
- Escalate out-of-specification results to the Quality Control Senior Specialist.
Laboratory Equipment & Practice
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, and manage reagents and consumables.
- Support method verification and participate in inter-laboratory proficiency testing.
- Maintain good laboratory practice, safety, and housekeeping standards.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, Animal Production, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of laboratory quality control experience in feed, food, or grain operations.
