Job Overview
We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Quality Control Technician to join our rail engineering team. This role is responsible for inspecting and verifying the quality of incoming materials and electrical works carried out on site, ensuring all work meets IPC standards, project specifications, and rail industry requirements. The ideal candidate has hands-on QC/QA experience in electrical or rail engineering projects, holds a minimum IPC certification, and is comfortable handling ISO 9001 documentation and quality processes.
Key Responsibilities
Materials & Workmanship Inspection
- Conduct incoming quality inspection of materials (cables, connectors, components, hardware) against project specifications, drawings, and approved material lists
- Inspect and verify the quality of electrical works and workmanship on site - including cable termination, wiring, panel assembly, and cable management - in accordance with IPC standards
- Ensure works comply with project specifications, rail engineering standards, and client/authority requirements
- Identify non-conformances and defects, and work with site supervisors/engineers to track corrective and preventive actions through to closure
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain QC documentation including inspection checklists, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and quality records
- Verify and file material certificates, mill certificates, and calibration certificates for tools and equipment
- Prepare inspection and quality reports for submission to project management and clients
- Maintain proper labelling, traceability, and record-keeping of materials used on site
Quality Management & Compliance
- Implement and maintain compliance with the company's ISO 9001 quality management system, including maintaining and updating relevant QMS documentation
- Assist in internal and external ISO 9001 audits, and follow up on audit findings
- Liaise with client's quality assurance representatives and relevant rail authority representatives during inspections and audits
- Attend site inspections and, where required, work during track possession hours/night shifts common to rail engineering works
Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum IPC certification required
- Prior experience in a quality control/quality assurance role, preferably within rail, MRT, or electrical engineering projects
- Familiar with ISO 9001 quality management systems and documentation
- Able to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Meticulous, detail-oriented, with strong documentation and report-writing skills
- Willing to work on site, including night shifts/track possession hours where required
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for preparing reports and records
