We are looking for an experienced Quality Controller – Piping to oversee and perform quality control activities related to pipe installation, fabrication, and welding in workshop and shipyard environments. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of piping inspection, welding inspection, NDT, PWHT, and pressure testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quality control inspections in accordance with QMS standards, procedures, and project requirements.
- Perform inspections for pipe installation, pipe fabrication, fit-up, and welding activities.
- Carry out fit-up inspections and welding inspections to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Monitor fabrication activities to minimize rework and ensure quality at every stage.
- Coordinate and request NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) as per the project Inspection & Test Plan (ITP).
- Monitor PWHT (Post Weld Heat Treatment) activities and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Witness and inspect pressure testing activities as required.
- Identify, report, and follow up on quality issues, delays, and non-conformances.
- Accept, reject, or recommend corrective actions when work does not meet specified requirements.
- Assist the Supervisor in preparing Inspection and Test Procedures (ITPs/procedures) for assigned projects.
- Maintain inspection records, reports, checklists, and relevant quality documentation.
- Conduct continuous in-process inspections to achieve minimal or zero rework.
- Support continual improvement initiatives within the piping department.
- Coordinate closely with supervisors, welders, fabricators, engineers, and other project teams.
- Ensure all HSE and quality requirements are fully implemented.
- Promote safe and productive work practices among employees and contractors.
- Report unsafe conditions or quality concerns promptly.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in Piping Quality Control / Inspection, preferably within shipyard, marine, oil & gas, or heavy industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of pipe fabrication, installation, fit-up, and welding inspection.
- Good understanding of NDT, PWHT, pressure testing, and piping inspection procedures.
- Experience working with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), QMS procedures, and project specifications.
- Ability to identify defects, non-conformities, and potential quality issues during fabrication and installation.
- Strong knowledge of applicable piping, welding, and quality standards.
- Good communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
- Strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

- CSWIP / AWS Welding Inspector
- ASNT / PCN NDT certification
- NDT Level II certification
- Relevant QA/QC certifications
