Job Purpose

The Joinery Quantity Surveyor is responsible for estimating and managing the costs associated with joinery and millwork projects. This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates, monitoring project expenses, and ensuring cost control throughout the project lifecycle to maximize profitability and minimize financial risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and scope of work to understand joinery and millwork requirements and quantify materials, labor, and other resources.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for joinery projects, including material takeoffs, labor costs, subcontractor quotes, and overhead expenses, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor project costs, expenditures, and budgets, tracking actual versus budgeted costs, identifying variances, and implementing cost control measures as needed.
  • Review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotes and contracts, ensuring competitiveness, reliability, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Prepare and submit interim and final valuations, payment applications, and variation orders to clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement team to assess project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options to optimize project outcomes.
  • Maintain organized records of quantity surveying documents, cost reports, change orders, and project correspondence, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • Suppliers, Subcontractors, Consultants, Clients (as required)

Experience and Qualifications:

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or related field.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying roles, preferably with experience in joinery or millwork projects.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software and tools.
  • Knowledge of joinery construction methods, materials, and costs.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities
