Job Purpose
Oversee, analyze, and control mechanical project costs throughout the construction lifecycle, ensuring completion within approved budgets while meeting technical, quality, and safety standards. Carry out detailed quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and contract administration for all mechanical works, providing commercial and financial guidance to project teams.
Job Duties
Quantity Surveying Activities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical works including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, piping systems, mechanical equipment, and related installations.
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs from mechanical drawings, MEP layouts, and project specifications.
- Develop and manage mechanical works budgets, monitoring and controlling costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Evaluate mechanical material requirements, labor inputs, and equipment usage to support procurement and billing accuracy.
- Manage and administer contracts related to mechanical works, including preparing tender packages, evaluating contractor proposals, and negotiating commercial terms.
- Prepare interim payment applications, certify subcontractor invoices, and verify executed quantities on-site.
- Conduct site inspections to verify progress, ensure compliance with mechanical specifications, and support cost assessments.
- Manage variations and change orders related to mechanical scope, including cost implications and contractual documentation.
- Support value engineering initiatives by identifying cost-effective alternatives in mechanical systems.
- Prepare periodic cost reports, forecasts, and financial updates for project stakeholders.
- Ensure all mechanical quantity surveying activities comply with relevant codes, standards, and contract requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., RICS, AIQS, or similar) is preferred.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in quantity surveying for mechanical works.
- High level of accuracy in measurement, cost estimation, and documentation to ensure financial integrity.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and installation practices.
- Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings and MEP schematics.
- Familiarity with construction software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel) to assist in project management and cost tracking.
- Excellent Computer skills
- Excellent command of English, Arabic is a plus
