A Rail Signaling Technician Trainee / Station Operations Officer supports railway technical and operational teams in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient rail services.

The role may involve assisting with railway signaling systems, equipment inspection and maintenance, fault identification, station operations, passenger assistance, service coordination, incident response, and compliance with railway safety procedures.

The position is suitable for candidates with backgrounds in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Railway Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Transportation, Operations, Customer Service, or related fields.

Previous experience in railway systems, metro operations, signaling, engineering, maintenance, transportation, or station operations is an advantage. Fresh graduates and entry-level candidates may be considered for trainee positions. Training will be provided to suitable candidates.

Key ResponsibilitiesRail Signaling Technician Trainee

• Assist senior technicians and engineers with inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of railway signaling systems and equipment.
• Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance of signaling, electrical, electronic, control, and trackside equipment.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections according to approved maintenance schedules and procedures.
• Identify and report equipment faults, alarms, defects, and abnormal conditions.
• Support troubleshooting and fault diagnosis under the supervision of qualified technicians or engineers.
• Assist with testing signaling equipment after maintenance, repair, replacement, or adjustment.
• Assist with maintenance of signals, point machines, track circuits, axle counters, interlocking systems, control equipment, cables, sensors, and related railway systems where applicable.
• Follow technical drawings, wiring diagrams, manuals, work instructions, and maintenance procedures.
• Record maintenance activities, test results, equipment conditions, faults, and corrective actions accurately.
• Support emergency fault response and system restoration activities when required.
• Assist engineers and technicians during installation, modification, testing, upgrading, and commissioning works.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, spare parts, and technical materials in good condition.
• Follow railway safety rules, electrical safety procedures, permit-to-work requirements, and site access procedures.
• Work safely in stations, depots, equipment rooms, workshops, and trackside environments.
• Participate in technical training, safety training, and competency assessments.
• Develop practical knowledge of railway signaling, electrical/electronic systems, maintenance procedures, and railway safety standards.

Station Operations Officer

• Assist with the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of railway stations.
• Monitor station facilities, platforms, entrances, exits, passenger areas, and general station conditions.
• Provide professional information and assistance to passengers.
• Support safe passenger boarding, alighting, and movement within the station.
• Monitor passenger flow and assist with crowd management during peak periods or service disruptions.
• Report safety hazards, equipment failures, overcrowding, suspicious activity, and operational abnormalities.
• Assist with station announcements and communication of service information to passengers.
• Coordinate with train control, signaling, security, maintenance, customer service, and other operational teams.
• Assist in managing train delays, service disruptions, incidents, emergencies, and operational changes.
• Respond professionally to passenger enquiries, complaints, and special assistance requests.
• Assist elderly passengers, passengers with disabilities, families, and other passengers requiring additional support.
• Conduct station inspections and report defects involving lifts, escalators, ticket gates, lighting, public address systems, signage, and other facilities.
• Support emergency response, evacuation, first-response procedures, and crowd-control activities as directed.
• Coordinate with security personnel, emergency services, maintenance contractors, and relevant departments when required.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, passenger complaints, equipment faults, operational activities, and station inspections.
• Assist with lost-and-found procedures and other customer service activities.
• Follow station operating procedures, emergency procedures, safety requirements, and company policies.
• Maintain professional communication with passengers, colleagues, contractors, and external stakeholders.
• Perform other station operations duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities

• Follow railway operating rules, technical procedures, company policies, and applicable local regulations.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, engineers, technicians, station staff, passengers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Complete technical, maintenance, operational, and incident documentation accurately.
• Report safety concerns, equipment defects, operational abnormalities, and incidents promptly.
• Participate in shift briefings, safety meetings, toolbox talks, training programs, and competency assessments.
• Protect confidential company, passenger, technical, and operational information.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to railway safety, reliability, customer service, and operational efficiency.
• Perform other technical, operational, maintenance, and administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Railway Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Transportation, Operations, or a related discipline is an advantage.
• Technical or vocational certification in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or railway-related fields is an advantage.
• Previous experience in railway, metro, transportation, engineering, maintenance, electrical/electronics, station operations, or customer service is preferred.
• Previous experience with railway signaling, industrial equipment, electrical systems, control systems, or station operations is an advantage.
• Fresh graduates and entry-level candidates are welcome to apply for trainee positions.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, control, or signaling systems is an advantage.
• Strong safety awareness and willingness to follow strict railway safety procedures.
• Good troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify abnormal equipment or operational conditions.
• Ability to understand technical drawings, wiring diagrams, manuals, checklists, and operating procedures is an advantage.

• Good customer service skills for station operations responsibilities.
• Good computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office or maintenance/operations systems.

• Ability to work day shifts, night shifts, weekends, public holidays, and extended hours when required.
• Ability to work in stations, depots, workshops, control areas, equipment rooms, and outdoor/trackside environments.
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain physically active for extended periods.
• Willingness to complete railway safety, technical, operational, and emergency-response training.
• Willingness to obtain required railway safety and competency certifications.
• Fluency in English is preferred; additional languages are an advantage.
• Knowledge of local railway, metro, or public transportation systems is an advantage.
