Overview of Role
We are currently looking for a Range Conducting Officer (RCO) who will be expected to oversee all aspects of test planning, coordination, and execution, while adhering to established protocols and safety standards. The RCO will also be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective execution of tests conducted on the range in accordance with the test plan and associated risk assessments.
They will assist in the planning of tests, collaborating with stakeholders to develop comprehensive test plans that address objectives, requirements, and safety considerations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Work closely with specialists to establish suitable and sufficient risk assessments for test activities.
- Oversee and coordinate all range-related functions during test specification and execution. Liaise with test organizers, participants, and support personnel to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Ensure that tests are conducted in strict accordance with the approved test plan and associated risk assessments. Monitor test activities to prevent deviations and maintain test integrity.
- Ensure that all test activities and range operations comply with applicable regulations, protocols, and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test plans, risk assessments, and related records. Record observations, incidents, and lessons learned during testing for post-test analysis and improvement purposes.
- Conduct thorough test and daily safety briefings for all participants, emphasizing key safety protocols, emergency procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that the test area is set up according to the specifications outlined in the test plan. Verify equipment functionality, range configurations, and safety measures prior to the start of testing.
- Ensure that the range area is closed according to the safety trace outlined in the test plan. Implement necessary closures and safety measures to secure the test site and prevent unauthorized access.
- Oversee the remediation of the test area at the conclusion of each test. Coordinate clean-up efforts, equipment removal, and restoration of the range area to its original condition as per the test plan.
