Role Overview
The Release & DevOps Engineer Mid Management is responsible for overseeing software release cycles, deployment strategies, and DevOps operations supporting event technology platforms. This role ensures seamless integration, automation, scalability, and system reliability across ticketing systems, event websites, accreditation platforms, mobile apps, CRM integrations, and live event digital infrastructure.
The position plays a critical role in ensuring zero-downtime deployments and high system availability during live, high-traffic events.
Key Responsibilities
Release Management
- Plan, schedule, and manage end-to-end software release cycles.
- Coordinate with development, QA, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth deployments.
- Maintain release documentation, version control, and rollback strategies.
- Implement structured change management processes.
DevOps & Automation
- Design and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, and deployment.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
- Optimize deployment workflows for speed, reliability, and scalability.
Cloud & Infrastructure Management
- Manage cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) supporting event platforms.
- Implement containerization and orchestration solutions (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability during live events.
- Implement load balancing and scaling strategies for peak traffic periods.
System Reliability & Monitoring
- Establish monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
- Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans for critical event systems.
Security & Compliance
- Integrate DevSecOps practices within CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and cybersecurity policies.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and patch management.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor DevOps engineers and release coordinators.
- Collaborate with product, digital, ticketing, and event operations teams.
- Provide technical support during critical event periods and live deployments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 58+ years of experience in DevOps, release engineering, or cloud infrastructure.
- 13 years in a supervisory or mid-management role.
- Strong experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native services.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Experience with version control systems (Git).
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting large-scale events, sports tournaments, or high-traffic digital platforms.
- Familiarity with ticketing platforms, accreditation systems, and event mobile apps.
- Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience in high-availability and zero-downtime deployment strategies.
