Job Brief: Academy Residential Supervisor

Al Jazira Football Academy is seeking for Academy Residential Supervisor working in partnership with another supervisor, will be responsible for overseeing the welfare and safety of our football players residing in purpose-built boarding accommodation at Al Jazira Football Academy. This includes both full-time players and short-term residents, such as younger players and triallists. The Residential Supervisor will act in loco parentis, ensuring high standards of behaviour and supporting the personal and professional development of each player.

The Residential Supervisor will work closely with all relevant Academy departments to maintain and improve operational procedures for the smooth running of the boarding facility. The role also involves creating and managing daily and weekly schedules for the resident players, ensuring alignment with the Academy's objectives and standards.

This position requires living on-site during shifts, with accommodation restrictions on dependents, visitors, and pets.

Role mandatory prerequisites

• Based in Al Shawamekh, Abu Dhabi, UAE
• Fluent in Arabic and English

Key Responsibilities:

• Player Welfare: Safeguard the physical and emotional well-being of players, creating a secure and family-like environment to support relaxation and personal growth outside of formal training sessions.
• Relationship Building: Develop and maintain respectful, individual-centered relationships with players, considering their cultural backgrounds and personal needs. Ensure confidentiality is upheld at all times.
• Compliance and Documentation: Ensure adherence to current legislation, safeguarding regulations, and best practices. Maintain accurate records on players, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and the Academy's safeguarding policy.
• Collaboration with Departments: Liaise with the Operations Manager and other departments, to manage the daily operations of the boarding facility (e.g., transportation, catering, housekeeping). Address any maintenance or repair issues as needed.
• Educational and Non-Football Development: Contribute to developing educational and non-football programs. Assist in researching and creating resources to help players and parents foster a lifestyle conducive to developing world-class football players.
• Fostering Personal Growth: Provide players with appropriate levels of freedom and responsibility to help them develop personal maturity.
• Training and Development: Attend training sessions on child protection, particularly related to UAE law (Wadeema Law), to stay up-to-date on regulations. Invest in personal development to thrive in the role and contribute effectively to the Academy's objectives.
• Team Support: Assist the Safeguarding and Welfare team to ensure the safety and well-being of all players within the Academy.
• Tech-Savvy & Administrative Duties: Be comfortable using digital platforms and quickly learning new systems. Participate in administrative tasks to support the Academy's operations.

Essential Requirements:

• Language: Excellent command of both written and spoken English.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience working with children and young adults. Ability to handle complex problems under pressure.
• Skills: Strong organizational and coordination skills. Ability to maintain high standards consistently.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Empathy: Understanding of the challenges faced by young players living away from home, and the ability to support their emotional well-being.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• First Aid Certification: Must have valid certification.
• Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree (2:1 or higher).
• Clearance: Ability to successfully complete necessary clearance processes.

Desirable Skills:

• Understanding of residential child care operations and relevant child protection legislation.
• Experience in a Houseparent or Residential Supervisor role in a child-focused environment for more than two years.
• Training or experience in coaching, mentoring, or teaching children and young adults.
• Familiarity with child development principles, and the ability to understand player behavior and needs.
• Language skills (Arabic, and/or French) or any additional language is an advantage
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
