The Resource Center Unit Head is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and management of the Museum's Resource Center, ensuring it serves as a leading knowledge hub supporting research, exhibitions, collections, education, publications, and public engagement. The role oversees the acquisition, preservation, accessibility, and dissemination of physical and digital resources while driving innovation in knowledge management, digital repositories, and information services.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Resource Center Management
- Develop and implement the strategic vision, objectives, policies, and operational plans for the Resource Center.
- Lead the continuous enhancement of resource center services, facilities, and user experience.
- Establish governance frameworks, standards, and procedures for knowledge and information management.
- Monitor emerging trends in library science, digital transformation, archives, and research services, introducing innovative practices where appropriate.
Collections, Knowledge Resources & Information Management
- Oversee the acquisition, cataloguing, classification, preservation, and accessibility of physical and digital resources.
- Manage research collections, archives, special collections, and digital repositories.
- Ensure compliance with international metadata, cataloguing, indexing, and classification standards.
- Support the development and maintenance of institutional knowledge repositories and information systems.
Research Support & Scholarly Services
- Lead research support services for curators, researchers, fellows, visiting scholars, and museum staff.
- Facilitate access to research databases, archives, publications, and specialized information resources.
- Support exhibition research, publications, collection studies, and other scholarly initiatives.
- Promote information literacy, research methodologies, citation management, and knowledge-sharing practices.
Digital Transformation & Innovation
- Lead the implementation and optimization of library management systems, digital repositories, and discovery platforms.
- Assess technology requirements and recommend innovative solutions to improve access to information resources.
- Oversee digitization initiatives and long-term digital preservation strategies.
- Collaborate with internal technology teams and external vendors to ensure effective system performance and accessibility.
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
- Establish and maintain partnerships with museums, universities, libraries, research institutions, publishers, and cultural organizations.
- Promote resource sharing, collaborative research, and knowledge exchange initiatives.
- Represent the Museum at professional forums, conferences, and industry events.
- Develop strategies to enhance awareness and utilization of the Resource Center's services and collections.
Leadership, Operations & Budget Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Resource Center team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Manage departmental budgets, subscriptions, procurement, contracts, and vendor relationships.
- Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Prepare operational reports, performance metrics, and strategic updates for senior management.
Community Engagement & Learning Programs
- Develop and deliver educational programs, workshops, lectures, reading initiatives, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Support lifelong learning and public engagement through innovative research and resource-based programming.
- Promote awareness of the Museum's knowledge resources among internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Library & Information Science, Knowledge Management, Archives Management, Museum Studies, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in library management, archives, information services, knowledge management, or resource center leadership.
- Demonstrated experience establishing and managing digital and physical knowledge resources.
- Experience leading digital transformation initiatives, implementing library technologies, and managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience within museums, cultural institutions, universities, research centers, or heritage organizations is highly desirable.
