Area Manager – Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree (minimum requirement)
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar role within the fashion and apparel retail industry
• Valid UAE driving license
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Profitability
• Drive sales KPIs (Sales per sq. ft., ATV, Conversion Rate, Upselling) using commercial insights.
• Analyze storewise strengths and weaknesses using P&L reports and implement corrective action plans.
• Deploy monthly sales budgets and ensure adherence to controllable operating costs.
• Ensure Store Managers communicate sales targets and performance effectively to their teams.
• Identify commercial opportunities within each store to maximize revenue.
• Guide Store Managers on staff deployment to optimize productivity.
• Monitor rosters, leave planning, and store rotations to maximize efficiency.
• Support replenishment planning and monitor stock allocator execution.
• Drive monthly performance reviews for all locations.
2. Customer Experience & Brand Standards
• Build a culture of customer centricity across all stores.
• Ensure service levels exceed customer expectations and enhance the shopping experience.
• Ensure adherence to brand visual merchandising standards across all stores.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards in both front and backend areas.
• Oversee petty cash submissions and maintain monthly maintenance trackers.
• Ensure timely completion of repair & maintenance tasks with relevant teams.
• Implement store strategies and new initiatives to enhance sales and customer service.
• Conduct regular retail operations checks and ensure strict adherence to SOPs.
3. People Leadership & Development
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and direction to develop retail skills within the team.
• Build collaborative, highperforming teams through motivation and engagement.
• Partner with HR team for recruitment of retail staff.
• Identify training needs and coordinate with L&D to create an annual training calendar.
• Ensure delivery of Selling Skills, Customer Service, and Brand Training.
• Manage performance through regular coaching and quarterly appraisals.
• Ensure Store Managers understand their KPIs, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
• Facilitate regular team meetings and communication sessions.
• Develop succession plans and build a pipeline of highpotential talent.
• Encourage open feedback and support Growing Together initiatives.
• Plan team building and motivational activities.
4. Market Intelligence & Communication
• Provide management with insights on competition, sales trends, and mall expansions.
• Communicate management directives to store managers.
• Conduct regular operational meetings and store visits.
• Liaise with Marketing, Finance, Logistics, Store Development, and Services teams.
5. Stock Management & Inventory Control
• Coordination with the inventory team for the control ofinventory across all stores through weekly and monthly stock counts.
• Strengthen store–warehouse coordination to maximize replenishment efficiency.
• Ensure slowmoving stock is highlighted and displayed appropriately.
• Enforce stock security SOPs across all stores.
6. Visual Merchandising
• Oversee VM execution with the head of VM to ensure consistent brand image across all the stores.
• Ensure implementation of visual graphics and key merchandise highlights.
• Coordinate seasonal VM plans and execute them with the VM team.
• Review store layouts quarterly and recommend changes to maximize sales.
• Support new store setups and merchandising phases.
7. Store Space Optimization
• Align brand mix and space allocation with Retail Head and VM team to maximize ROI.
• Use brand contribution and retail density reports for space planning.
• Recommend layout changes to improve sales performance.
8. Retail Promotions & Marketing
• Plan the retail marketing calendar with the marketing team.
• Oversee seasonal promotions and ensure smooth rollout across stores.
• Manage annual sale events in coordination with marketing and operations.
• Ensure store teams understand promotion mechanics.
• Coordinate with relevant teams to secure DED permits.
• Partner with government and corporate programs (ESAAD, FAZAA, GDFRA) for tactical promotions.
9. Store Openings, Projects & Closures
• Coordinate with Store Development and Project teams to ensure store design compliance.
• Ensure timely completion of new store projects.
• Coordinate with IT for procurement of hardware/software.
• Liaise with Facility Management for housekeeping, fire & safety, and other services.
• Coordinate with mall management for opening/closure requirements.
• Monitor project expenses to stay within approved CAPEX budgets and escalate deviations.
10. Additional Projects
• Manage event sales and seasonal sales.
• Oversee concession store operations.
• Ensure brand displays and price listings are updated.
• Plan promotions with concession buying and marketing teams.
• Manage staffing for special projects.
