Role Summary
The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Management System within the processing and manufacturing facility. The role ensures full compliance with the regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHAD) framework, the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice, and other applicable UAE safety and labor regulations.
The Safety Officer will proactively identify workplace hazards, reduce operational risks, prevent accidents and injuries, and maintain a safe, hygienic working environment in line with statutory requirements and food manufacturing safety standards.
Key Responsibility
- Make sure the factory follows all UAE safety rules and regulations, including fire safety and labor laws.
- Regularly inspect all work areas (roasting, sorting, packaging, warehouse, maintenance) and check for hazards like machinery, electrical issues, manual handling, dust, and gas risks.
- Monitor air quality in the factory, including CO, nitrogen flushing, roasting fumes, dust, and heat, and make sure ventilation and gas detection systems work properly.
- Ensure walkways are safe and clearly marked, and that fire exits and assembly points are easily accessible and free from obstacles.
- Regularly check and maintain all fire safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, hoses, sprinklers, alarms, and emergency lights.
- Make sure machines and equipment are operated safely, properly guarded, and that Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed during maintenance.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and suggest corrective actions to prevent them from happening again.
- Conduct safety training for new employees and regular talks for staff, focusing on gas safety, CO, dust, pedestrian safety, and emergency procedures.
- Help run emergency drills, including fire evacuations, first aid, and handling hazardous gas situations like CO or low oxygen.
- Keep all safety records up to date, including risk assessments, inspection reports, incident logs, and training records, and report unsafe conditions to management
