Job Advertisement: Safety Officer (MEP)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer specializing in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring our construction sites adhere to the highest safety standards, specifically focusing on MEP operations. You will be responsible for fostering a strong safety culture, mitigating risks, and ensuring full compliance with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) regulations and Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act.

Key Responsibilities

. Site Supervision: Actively supervise and guide safety coordinators, site supervisors, and workers to ensure all MEP activities are carried out safely and in compliance with established procedures.

. Safety Documentation: Independently draft, review, and maintain comprehensive safety documentation, including Risk Assessments (RA), Permit-to-Work (PTW) applications, Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and Method Statements.

. Hazard Identification & Mitigation: Conduct daily site safety inspections to identify potential hazards, specifically those related to MEP works (e.g., electrical installations, pipe fitting, ducting, working at heights, and lifting operations).

. Compliance & Reporting: Ensure strict compliance with the Singapore WSH Act, client safety rules, and internal project safety procedures. Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near-misses, implementing corrective and preventive actions.

. Training & Communication: Conduct regular toolbox meetings and safety briefings to educate workers on site-specific hazards and safe work practices.

Requirements

. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience working as a Safety Officer in the construction industry, with a strong and specific focus on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works.

. Qualifications: Must be a registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) Singapore.

. Documentation Skills: Highly proficient in writing and reviewing Risk Assessments (RA), Permit-to-Work (PTW), and all other necessary safety documentation.

. Leadership: Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and lead safety coordinators and site workers, promoting a proactive safety culture.

. Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the Singapore WSH Act, regulations, and industry best practices.

. Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of staff, main contractors, and clients.
