Build & Grow a New Rig Services & Equipment Business Across the UAE & GCC
We are looking for an experienced Sales & Business Development professional with strong practical knowledge of drilling rigs, rig equipment and upstream operations to develop a new business segment serving drilling contractors and rig operators. The role will cover opportunities across rig equipment and components, inspection, maintenance, repair, refurbishment, rental, upgrades and rig modifications, combining technical rig expertise with strong commercial and business development capabilities.

Designation: Sales & Business Development Manager – Rig Services | Drilling Rigs & Equipment | Upstream Oil & Gas
Job Objective:
- Build and grow a new Rig Services business segment with a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach.
- Act as a competent technical and commercial partner to regional drilling contractors, understanding their rig operations, equipment challenges and service requirements.
- Build strong relationships with operational and commercial decision-makers, particularly Drillers, Rig Engineers and Application Engineers.
- Develop and execute account strategies, grow revenue and margin, maintain reliable forecasts and expand the Company's service portfolio.
- Convert customer needs into practical service, maintenance, repair, upgrade and equipment solutions while ensuring a high-quality customer experience.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
- Own the complete sales cycle, including lead generation, qualification, technical discovery, solution development, proposals, tenders, pricing, negotiation, contract award and follow-up.
- Develop strategic account plans for rig contractors and establish a structured pipeline for new projects, shutdowns, maintenance campaigns, upgrades and recurring service opportunities.
- Visit drilling sites, rig bases, workshops and customer offices to understand operating conditions, equipment performance and service requirements.
- Engage credibly with Drillers, Rig Engineers, Application Engineers, Operations, Maintenance, Procurement and Commercial teams.
- Coordinate with internal technical, service, logistics and commercial teams to develop compliant, competitive and executable solutions.
- Identify customer pain points and propose value-adding solutions that improve safety, reliability, availability, efficiency and total cost of ownership.
- Prepare and manage technical-commercial proposals, prequalification submissions, registrations, tenders and contractual clarifications.
- Follow up high-value tenders and maintain accurate opportunity, forecast, pricing, competitor and customer-contact records in the ERP/CRM system.
- Develop new principals, manufacturers and service partners whose capabilities strengthen the Rig Services portfolio.
- Monitor regional drilling activity, contractor strategies, rig fleet developments, competitors, technologies and customer investment plans.
- Maximize margin through effective value selling and negotiation with customers, principals and suppliers.
- Coordinate sales projects and provide professional after-sales support, including prompt resolution of service, delivery or rejected-material issues.
- Support receivables collection and commercial closure in coordination with Finance and the Business Unit Manager.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports covering sales activities, pipeline, forecasts, tender status, benchmarking, competitor mapping and account actions.
- Represent the Company at relevant customer workshops, trade shows, conferences and industry events; travel across the region as required.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Strong practical understanding of drilling operations, drilling rigs, rig equipment, systems and processes.
- Knowledge of land and/or offshore rig packages, including major mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
- Understanding of rig equipment maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, refurbishment, upgrades, reliability and lifecycle support.
- Working knowledge of drilling contractor operating models, HSE expectations, procurement practices, vendor registration and prequalification.
- Ability to interpret customer specifications, equipment data, scopes of work and technical-commercial tender requirements.
- Proficiency in business development, account planning, bids and tenders, proposal management, project estimation, client relationships, payment follow-up and market intelligence.
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications and ERP/CRM systems.
Ability & Skills:
- Hands-on mentality with the drive to build a new business segment from the ground up.
- Engineering credibility and the ability to translate complex rig requirements into clear, commercially viable solutions.
- Strong customer focus, ownership and accountability, with the confidence to work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent relationship-building, consultative selling, presentation, listening, communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to influence multiple stakeholders and coordinate effectively across commercial, technical, service and support functions.
- Sound analytical skills, commercial judgement and attention to detail in pricing, margins, forecasts and contractual matters.
- Results-oriented, resilient and comfortable managing multiple priorities and travelling regularly across the UAE and GCC.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in drilling operations, rig equipment, rig services, oilfield services or a closely related engineering environment.
- Minimum 5 years of technical sales, account management or business development experience serving drilling contractors or rig operators.
- Substantial regional experience and established working relationships across drilling contractors in the UAE and/or GCC.
- First-hand technical exposure to rig equipment, field service, engineering, maintenance, applications or operations is required.
- Proven record of developing accounts, winning tenders and growing service or engineered-product business.
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Petroleum, Mechatronics or another relevant Engineering discipline.
Accountabilities and Performance Measures:
- Achieve agreed Rig Services revenue, gross margin and order intake targets.
- Build a qualified and sustainable opportunity pipeline across regional drilling contractors.
- Acquire new accounts, principals and service opportunities while expanding share of wallet in existing accounts.
- Maintain forecast accuracy, tender discipline, ERP data quality and timely reporting.
- Deliver strong customer satisfaction, repeat business and long-term strategic relationships.
- Support timely receivables collection and responsible commercial risk management.
