Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Cairo, Egypt for a Sales Engineer in the Oil & Gas Division. The Sales Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships, identifying business opportunities, and providing technical guidance on products and services. Additional duties include preparing and delivering technical presentations, offering technical support to clients, and collaborating with the sales team to meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Driving Sales 70%

  • Develop and implement market plans to achieve annual sales targets.
  • Receive customer requirements and present suitable solutions to secure sales.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing customers through visits, calls, and emails.
  • Arrange and conduct meetings with potential clients to generate new business opportunities.
  • Negotiate prices, delivery terms, and technical specifications with customers.
  • Address and overcome customer objections to close sales orders.
  • Provide guidance on upcoming product developments and special promotions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on the progress of current orders.
  • Follow up on customer payments to ensure invoices are settled on time.
  • Deliver technical training to customers on product features and upgrades.
  • Conduct weekly site visits to gather information on compressor population, ignition components, operational challenges, and other technical insights.

2. Reporting 20%

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales reports.
  • Attend sales team meetings and share best practices with colleagues.

3. Following Up & Tracking 10%

  • Monitor stock levels and displayed quantities of products.
  • Coordinate with the Presales Department on inquiries, tenders, bid bonds, and submissions.
  • Follow up with the Logistics and Finance Departments on documentation related to issued orders.

Decision-Making Responsibilities

  • Strategically allocate the sampling budget to maximize sales outcomes.
  • Prioritize customers and decision-makers based on sales potential.
  • Determine when in-person presentations or special sales events would be most effective.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical preferred).
  • 25+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas sales field.

Technical Knowledge

  • Customer & personal service principles (needs assessment, satisfaction, quality service).
  • Sales and marketing principles, including product promotion, demonstration, and sales systems.
  • Professional proficiency in English (reading, writing, grammar).
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, CRM systems, technical software).
  • Mathematics (calculus, statistics).
  • Mechanical knowledge: rotating equipment, tools, design, operation, maintenance.

Working Conditions

  • Majority of time spent outside the office visiting clients.
  • Required equipment includes laptop, mobile phone, product samples, and company car.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in Sales Engineering and Technical Support
  • Excellent Communication skills for engaging with clients and team members effectively
  • Proficiency in Sales and Customer Service, with a customer-oriented approach
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, preferably with a focus on oil and gas or industrial sectors
  • Ability to work on-site and effectively collaborate within a team
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry or familiarity with associated products and technologies is a plus
