About Etijah
Youth and development consultancy institute (Etijah) is an Egyptian institute specialized in the field of youth and development through its work to solve the main challenges facing local communities, by empowering youth with the skills and capabilities necessary for effective participation. Etijah also provides practical tools and models for designing community projects and initiatives that empower local communities and create an environment in which youth have better opportunities in order to reduce gaps in society and improve the quality of life of its marginalized groups. Etijah was formed in Cairo in 2006 to serve and aid youth on many levels using the local resources and a participatory approach. This is achieved through a variety of different projects, training program, workshops and seminars covering different fields and sectors such as training and education, entrepreneurship and employment, health and women empowerment, volunteerism, and civic engagement. Etijah collaborates with many governmental institutions, in addition to many non-governmental local and international institutions.
Project Background
Safe Spaces project is funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and managed by Etijah, Sanad was established as a safe space for supporting female refugees in El Haram and New Damietta, with the surge of refugee numbers post the Syrian crisis, and the Sudan Conflict in 2023. Sanad safe spaces aim to serve Refugees, migrants, asylum seekers, and host communities living in different locations across Egypt, where most of them centralize in certain areas such as 6th of October City, El Haram, 10th of Ramadan and New Damietta.
Sanad Safe spaces are managed under Etijah, and 11 other safe spaces were established in the cooperation with Ministry of youth inside the youth centers at different geographic areas.
Skills
The main objective of Sanad, like other safe spaces, was to provide a safety zone for female refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers to help them assimilate into society, to provide them with medical and psychological support, and to equip them with various skills within that context. To that end, the following three main programs were implemented:
- Psychosocial Support Services (PSS) to gender-based violence survivors.
- The Vocational Rehabilitations.
- Reproductive health and gender-based violence raising awareness and outreach.
Duties And Responsibilities
Project coordination & management
– Collaborate in the planning, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation process of the project.
– Prepare, manage and regularly update the safe space activities work plan and related financial plan, ensuring timely and quality implementation in compliance with the defined project strategy as well as donor guidelines.
– Assist and support the project manager in coordination, work planning, reporting, partner liaison, networking and communication
– Establish and maintain collaborative relations with community partners in target area to enhance and promote safe space activities
– Coordinate with the project manager, carrying out recruitment procedures for the consultants.
Staff & activities supervision
– Supervise daily safe space operation, provide technical guidance and supervision as well as to regularly monitoring the progress of activities.
– Provide administrative support to the Project Unit.
– Give Orientation of the new Safe Spaces staff and volunteers
– Supervise outreach community volunteers and monitor their work
– Maintain confidentiality of visitors and GBV survivors
– Monitor & Evaluate the safe space staff in coordination with the project manager
Reporting
– Support the development of monthly, quarterly and annual donor reports.
– Prepare relevant paperwork and keep updated files and electronic records
– Conduct research on variety of topics when needed
– Keep track of documents, like purchase orders, budgets, payrolls and contracts.
– Create presentations, maintain websites or prepare marketing materials to update stakeholders when needed.
– Consolidate reports on; counteracting SGBV awareness change across the project
Budgeting and logistics coordination
– Coordinate with logistic, administration and finance units to procure all equipment, supplies, materials and services required to implement safe space activities, ensuring cost efficiency and accountability in compliance with donor regulations and procedures.
– Assist in the preparation of budgets, track expenditures and help raise funds when appropriate
Job Requirements
– More than five years experience in development field especially in Humanitarian context
– Previous Experience In Gender-based Violence Projects Is Required.
– Two years of proven experience in managing and supervising others
– Previous experience in training management will be an assets
– Demonstrated good skills and experience in administrative, organizational and operational project work.
– Reports writing in English and Arabic is required
– Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
– Academic requirements: Bachelor degree in areas of social and human sciences, or related disciplines.
– The ability to multitask and strong technical ability.
– Facilitate and encourage open communication and strive for effective communication.
– Maintain effective working relations with people of different cultural backgrounds.
– Proactive attitude, organizational skills and attention to detail.
