Job Purpose
Responsible for the design, administration, and optimization of the SAP Ariba platform and S/4HANA Material Management (SAP MM), ensuring it effectively supports procurement, sourcing, and supplier management. As the SAP Ariba and SAP MM subject matter expert, this role drives efficiency and strategic alignment through solution architecture, process improvement, and data governance. The Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement best practices, ensure ERP integration, and enable effective procurement strategies and compliance, adding value across the procurement lifecycle. The scope of responsibility for this position will include SAP Ariba and SAP S/4HANA Procurement tasks as well (i.e. MM / Inventory).
Solution Architecture & Domain Expertise
- Design and architect end-to-end SAP Ariba solutions that align with business objectives and industry best practices.

- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) in SAP Ariba modules, including sourcing, procurement, contracts, supplier management, and guided buying.
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) in SAP MM modules, including materials requirement planning, procurement, inventory management, and invoice verification.
- Define the technical and functional architecture of the SAP Ariba and SAP MM ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration with SAP S/4HANA and other third-party systems to enable unified data flow and streamlined processes.
- Lead design workshops with cross-functional stakeholders, capturing business requirements, translating them into detailed technical designs, and gaining buy-in to create sustainable solutions.
- Define a strategic roadmap for the ongoing enhancement of SAP Ariba and SAP MM functionalities, incorporating best practices, emerging technologies, and continuous improvement to meet evolving business needs.
- Define the use of BTP in the extensibility of SAP functionality outside of the core SAP S/4HANA to meeting business innovation requirements.
- Define the use of Cloud Integration Gateway (CIG) cloud-based middleware in Ariba integration to other solutions in the Solution Architecture.
Integration Management
- Advise on integrations between SAP Ariba and other SAP and Non-SAP solutions in scope, using SAP Cloud Integration Gateway (CIGI) and APIs
- Advise on integrations between SAP S/4HANA and other SAP and Non-SAP solutions in scope, using SAP Integration Suite (CPI) and BTP Extensions.
- Collaborate with IT and external vendors to ensure seamless data flow, resolve integration issues, and maintain robust data synchronization and system interoperability.
Business Process Expertise & Application Support
- Provide advanced expertise to optimize and configure SAP Ariba functionalities that streamline sourcing, procurement, and supplier management processes, enhancing cost-efficiency and operational effectiveness.
- Provide advanced expertise to optimize and configure SAP MM functionalities that streamline materials requirement planning, procurement, inventory management, and invoice verification.
- Collaborate with procurement and business teams to map current processes, identify areas for improvement, and lead the implementation of redesigned workflows within SAP Ariba and SAP MM.
- Provide support for daily business operations, ensuring that SAP Ariba and SAP MM applications are meeting business needs and resolving any issues promptly.
- Supervise and conduct comprehensive testing, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT), for all SAP Ariba and SAP MM implementations, updates, and enhancements to ensure successful and smooth go-live.
- Create training materials and lead user training sessions to ensure optimal system use and support high levels of user adoption across the organization.
Data Management & Governance
- Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures for SAP Ariba and SAP MM, ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity across sourcing, procurement, and supplier management.
- Manage the integration of master data between SAP Ariba and SAP S/4HANA, along with other ERP systems, ensuring consistent data accuracy and compliance.
- Lead and execute data migration and transformation activities, overseeing data validation and cleansing processes for new SAP Ariba and SAP MM implementations or system upgrades.
- Create and manage reporting tools that provide insights into procurement performance, supplier compliance, and sourcing metrics. Leverage SAP Ariba's data analytics capabilities to generate actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
- Create and manage reporting tools that provide insights through SAP MM reports on procurement performance, stock movements, and vendor efficiency.
Compliance, Risk Management & Process Controls
- Ensure that SAP Ariba functionalities and configurations adhere to organizational policies, procurement regulations, and industry standards, safeguarding compliance and mitigating risk.
- Continuously assess system vulnerabilities within SAP Ariba and establish robust risk mitigation strategies, ensuring data security, operational resilience, and regulatory compliance.
- Periodically perform SAP MM compliance and Audits to ensure procurement and inventory processes comply with internal controls and external regulatory requirements.
User Training and Support
- Develop comprehensive training programs and documentation that empower end-users to fully leverage the capabilities of SAP Ariba, driving user adoption and reducing support requests.
- Conduct hands-on workshops and provide customized support to various user groups, ensuring that the solution is used efficiently to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) and business objectives.
- Offer proactive end-user support by troubleshooting issues, responding to queries, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives based on user feedback, ensuring a high level of user satisfaction and system performance.
- Provide end-user training and support for SAP MM-related functions and transactions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage and communicate with key stakeholders throughout project phases, facilitating alignment on project goals, expectations, and technical solutions.
- Collaborate closely with IT, procurement, finance, and other functional teams to ensure SAP Ariba solutions are aligned with business requirements and support SOPC's strategic goals.
- Manage relationships with SAP Ariba consultants, vendors, and third-party solution providers to ensure successful service delivery, project support, and issue resolution.
Continuous Improvement & Strategic Planning
- Stay informed on advancements in procurement technology, including SAP Ariba updates and complementary tools, identifying potential improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Lead initiatives to identify and implement system enhancements, configurations, or upgrades to optimize SAP Ariba's functionality in alignment with the organization's evolving needs.
- Lead strategic projects within the SAP Ariba ecosystem, from ideation through implementation, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, timelines, and budget constraints.
