SAP MM/IM Consultant – Job Description

Role Overview

An SAP MM/IM Consultant is responsible for implementing, configuring, and supporting procurement and inventory management processes within SAP. The role ensures efficient material planning, purchasing, and inventory control aligned with business needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Implementation & Configuration

• Configure and customize SAP MM and IM modules in SAP S/4HANA or SAP ECC
• Set up:
• Organizational structures (plant, storage location, purchasing org)
• Master data (material master, vendor master, purchasing info records)
• Define procurement processes (PR, PO, contracts, scheduling agreements)

2. Inventory Management (IM)

• Configure and manage:
• Goods receipt (GR) and goods issue (GI)
• Stock transfers and physical inventory
• Batch management and valuation
• Ensure accurate stock tracking and reconciliation

3. Integration

• Work closely with other SAP modules:
• FI (invoice verification, valuation)
• SD (delivery integration)
• PP (material planning)
• Ensure seamless end-to-end process flow

4. Business Process Optimization

• Analyze business requirements and design SAP solutions
• Improve procurement cycles and inventory control processes
• Implement best practices for supply chain efficiency

5. Support & Maintenance

• Provide L2/L3 production support
• Troubleshoot issues related to procurement and inventory
• Handle change requests, enhancements, and system upgrades

6. Documentation & Training

• Prepare functional specifications (FS)
• Create user manuals and conduct end-user training
• Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing)

Required Skills

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in:
• SAP MM & Inventory Management (IM)
• Pricing procedures, release strategies
• Account determination (OBYC)
• Knowledge of:
• SAP configuration (SPRO)
• Basic ABAP (for debugging)
• Interfaces (IDocs, APIs)
