Job Description

  • Lead the overall academic function, ensuring alignment with the school's strategic objectives and student outcomes.
  • Develop and oversee the annual academic plan covering teaching, learning, assessment, staffing, and improvement priorities.
  • Lead the recruitment, onboarding, supervision, and performance management of academic staff, including Teachers, HODs, and the Quality Supervisor / Internal Verifier.
  • Establish academic standards, policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
  • Take accountability for the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning across the school.
  • Monitor teaching quality, student achievement, progression, attendance, and engagement, and lead appropriate improvement actions.
  • Ensure effective teaching strategies, learner engagement, differentiation, and appropriate use of learning resources.
  • Supervise curriculum implementation, ensuring alignment with qualifications, assessment requirements, industry needs, and career pathways.
  • Oversee assessment planning and implementation and ensure assessment evidence is used to improve teaching and student achievement.
  • Review academic and assessment data to identify gaps, trends, and improvement priorities.
  • Maintain overall accountability for academic quality and compliance, in collaboration with the Quality Supervisor / Internal Verifier.
  • Ensure academic processes and practices meet institutional, qualification, and accreditation requirements.
  • Review quality findings and ensure corrective and improvement actions are implemented and followed up.
  • Lead academic staff development through coaching, mentoring, observation, feedback, and targeted professional development.
  • Build the leadership and academic capabilities of HODs and teaching teams.
  • Promote professional accountability, reflective practice, and continuous development.
  • Develop and manage strategic industry and academic partnerships that enhance practical learning and student employability.
  • Ensure industry requirements and labor-market trends are reflected in curriculum, teaching, assessment, and career preparation.
  • Lead industry engagement opportunities such as workplace visits, projects, internships, guest speakers, and industry-led learning.
  • Use structured industry feedback and partnership outcomes to drive curriculum review and continuous academic improvement.
  • Lead the academic improvement agenda using student performance, quality findings, stakeholder feedback, and industry input.
  • Promote innovation in teaching, learning, assessment, and educational practices.
  • Lead the effective use of digital systems for academic planning, tracking, assessment, reporting, and decision-making.
