Job Description

Job Purpose :

To oversee and develop the university's scientific journals, ensuring compliance with international academic publishing standards, enhancing journal ranking and indexing, and managing editorial and administrative operations efficiently.

| Duties & Responsibilities |

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan to enhance the quality, visibility, and indexing of the university's scientific journals. 2. Supervise Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Board members to ensure compliance with academic policies and publishing ethics. 3. Oversee manuscript submission, peer-review, and publication processes according to recognized international standards
  • Ensure adherence to publishing and indexing requirements (e.g., Scopus, Web of Science, DOAJ, Crossref, COPE, etc., where applicable)
  • Manage relationships with reviewers, researchers, and authors locally and internationally.
  • Prepare periodic performance reports for university leadership, including publication metrics and acceptance rates

7 Supervise journal management systems (e.g., OJS) and ensure proper technical and operational functionality.

  • Develop and update editorial and peer-review policies in line with international best practices
  • Propose marketing and outreach strategies to increase journal visibility and citation rates
  • Manage the allocated budget for journal operations and control related expenditures

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant academic field
  • Minimum of 3 years of academic experience in higher education or research institutions
  • Proven experience in managing or serving on the editorial board of scientific journals
  • Strong knowledge of academic publishing standards, ethics, plagiarism policies, DOI systems, and indexing requirements
  • Experience with journal management systems such as OJS
  • Demonstrated administrative and leadership experience
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
