Stem Cells and Regeneration Research Group

Scientist

Title: Scientist – Stem Cells and Regeneration Research Group

Reporting to: Laboratory Manager / Research Group Leadership

Role Overview

The Laboratory Scientist will play a lead scientific and technical role within the Stem Cells and Regeneration Research Group within the Dubai Precision Medicine Center (DPMC), independently designing, executing, and managing research projects involving human-induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and tissue-engineering-based in vitro systems. The role requires a high level of autonomy, scientific judgment, and responsibility for experimental quality and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Independent Project Leadership

  • Independently plan, execute, and manage research projects involving human iPSCs
  • Translate project objectives into experimental plans, timelines, and deliverables
  • Take responsibility for experimental troubleshooting, optimization, and decision-making

iPSC & Tissue Engineering Expertise

  • Perform and oversee advanced human iPSC culture, maintenance, and experimental use
  • Apply tissue engineering and advanced in-vitro approaches to support project objectives
  • Ensure experimental rigor, reproducibility, and high technical standards

Data Quality & Documentation

  • Generate high-quality, well-documented experimental data
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records and contribute to protocol documentation
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, ethics, and quality requirements

Scientific Contribution & Collaboration

  • Contribute intellectually to study design, data interpretation, and reporting.
  • Support collaborative projects within the group when required
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and research assistants

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in stem cell biology, tissue engineering, biomedical sciences, or a related field
  • Extensive hands-on experience with human iPSC culture and experimental workflows
  • Demonstrated experience in tissue engineering or advanced in-vitro culture systems
  • Proven ability to run research projects independently

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in interdisciplinary or translational research environments
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior laboratory staff
  • Track record of contributing to research outputs (e.g., reports, publications)
  • Experience contributing to grant-funded research projects
