Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Science Teacher to join our team from August 2026.

The Role

As a Secondary Science Teacher at Newton, you will deliver high-quality teaching in line with the British National Curriculum, inspiring students through literature, language, and critical thinking, while supporting their academic progress and personal development within a supportive and collaborative school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and well-planned Science lessons in line with the British National Curriculum at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE/IGCSE experience desirable).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes high standards of learning, behaviour, and wellbeing.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Prepare students effectively for internal assessments and external examinations.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental development, and whole-school initiatives.
  • Support students personal, social, and emotional development through effective pastoral care.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to support student achievement.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Science or a related subject.
  • A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, BEd, QTS, or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of two years full-time teaching experience within a British curriculum school.
  • Experience teaching KS3 and KS4 Science (GCSE/IGCSE experience preferred).
  • Fluent English speaker with strong subject knowledge, classroom management, and communication skills.
  • A student-centred and inclusive approach to teaching and learning.
  • Ability to adapt confidently to a multicultural and dynamic school environment.
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
