This mid-level, full-time role is critical for maintaining the hotel's reputation by managing risk and providing a visible, professional security presence. Success is measured by the effective prevention of incidents, the accuracy of reporting, and the seamless handling of guest safety needs.
Work Setup & Collaboration
- Operates on a consistent 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM night shift schedule.
- Requires 100% on-site presence at the hospitality facility.
- Works with high autonomy while following established safety protocols and compliance standards.
- Collaborates closely with the front desk and night audit teams to manage guest arrivals and facility issues.
- Conduct regular foot patrols of all guest floors, public areas, and back-of-house facilities to ensure safety.
- Monitor CCTV systems and alarm panels continuously to identify and investigate suspicious activities.
- Manage building access control, ensuring only authorized guests and staff enter the premises during late-night hours.
- Respond immediately to emergency situations, including fire alarms, medical incidents, or physical disturbances.
- Document detailed incident reports and daily activity logs with high accuracy and objectivity for management review.
- Assist guests with safety-related inquiries, room lockouts, or escorting needs with a professional demeanor.
- Enforce property policies and local regulations regarding noise, alcohol consumption, and guest conduct.
- Identify and report maintenance hazards or safety risks immediately to the engineering or night management teams.
- Lead initial de-escalation efforts for any guest conflicts or unauthorized intrusions.
- Take full ownership of the facility's security posture and guest peace of mind during the overnight shift.
- Maintain a 100% completion rate for scheduled patrol rounds and checkpoints.
- Achieve zero unresolved security breaches or unauthorized entries during assigned shifts.
- Deliver comprehensive incident reports within 2 hours of any occurrence.
- Maintain high guest satisfaction scores specifically related to the feeling of safety and security.
- Execute emergency protocols with 100% compliance to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- 3–5 years of experience in professional security, ideally within hospitality or high-traffic commercial environments.
- Valid and active state or local Security Guard License/Certification.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
- Physical stamina to remain on feet for 12-hour shifts and the ability to respond physically to emergencies.
- Strong understanding of liability, privacy, and safety regulations within a mid-sized hospitality setting.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, decisive, and professional under high-pressure or confrontational situations.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for documenting logs and interacting with diverse guest populations.
- Experience using digital security logging software or property management systems (PMS).
- Advanced training in crisis intervention or verbal de-escalation techniques.
- Previous experience working in a hotel with over 200 rooms.
- Basic knowledge of fire life safety systems and fire panel operation.
