Job Purpose:

The Senior General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate general ledger accounts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring the integrity of the company's accounting records in compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.

Key Accountabilities:

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Review and post journal entries, accruals, and prepayments, ensuring proper classification and documentation.
• Perform account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, including bank, intercompany, and fixed assets.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
• Prepare schedules and documentation required for external and internal audits.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT and withholding tax filings.
• Provide guidance and review work performed by junior accounting staff.
• Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and controls.

Job Requirements:

- Years of experience: 5-7 years of experience in general accounting, preferably within the manufacturing or steel fabrication sector.

-Preferred 7+ years of experience with exposure to consolidated financial reporting.

Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.

-Preferred Studying towards or holding CMA/ACCA certification.

Professional Certificates:

-Not mandatory, but CMA or ACCA modules completed are advantageous.

-Preferred Partial or full CMA/ACCA certification.

Language proficiency:

-Proficient in English, both verbal and written.

-Preferred Proficiency in additional languages is beneficial.

Computer skills:

-Proficient in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and advanced MS Excel.

-Preferred Experience with financial reporting tools and automation of reconciliations.
