Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and analyzing financial data, maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing financial reports, reconciliations, budgets, forecasts, and supporting month-end closing activities. The role ensures compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls while providing accurate financial information to management.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general and cost accounting activities, including journal entries, ledger maintenance, account classification, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and review trial balances, financial statements, MIS reports, and supporting schedules.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Reconcile bank accounts, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, and other assigned accounts.
- Analyze revenues, costs, expenses, financial commitments, and business trends and provide relevant financial insights.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and budget-versus-actual variance analysis.
- Ensure accurate recording of transactions under the correct account numbers and cost centers.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Conduct internal reviews and audits of financial records and prepare correcting journal entries when required.
- Maintain fixed asset records and support physical verification of company assets and inventory.
- Ensure financial transactions are properly authorized and comply with company policies and delegated approval limits.
- Support the development and improvement of accounting procedures, systems, and internal controls.
- Ensure effective use of ERP and accounting systems, preferably SAP, and maintain financial data integrity.
- Support internal and external audits by providing reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documents.
- Provide financial information and analysis to management as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager or immediate supervisor.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial processes, and internal controls.
- Good knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting practices.
- Strong understanding of month-end closing, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Knowledge of banking and financial processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
- SAP knowledge is preferred.
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
Job Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience, including at least 3 years of relevant experience; GCC experience is an advantage.
Education & Professional Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
