Description and Requirements
Role Overview
The Senior Accounting Specialist supports manufacturing operations for various products (e.g. PC, Phone, Server) by performing core plant accounting, financial closing, reporting, and statutory compliance activities. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate accounting records, compliance with accounting standards and internal controls, and providing timely financial analysis to support plant and finance stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Finance Support
- Work closely with local plant teams and regional/global finance partners to support day-to-day accounting and reporting needs.
- Provide financial data, analysis, and explanations to support management decision-making.
Plant Accounting & Financial Control
- Perform plant accounting activities including general ledger, cost accounting, and inventory-related accounting.
- Ensure accounting treatments comply with applicable accounting standards and internal control requirements.
Month-End Close
- Execute month-end close activities, including material ledger closing, journal entries and variance analysis.
- Coordinate with shared service teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of transactional accounting activities.
Reconciliations & Balance Sheet Reviews
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support quarterly balance sheet review processes and address identified issues.
Process & Project Support
- Support accounting processes such as fixed asset accounting, assets physical counts, and return material acceptance.
- Adhere to established accounting governance frameworks and contribute to continuous process improvements.
- Provide accounting and financial support for plant-related projects and initiatives.
Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare statutory accounting entries and supporting files.
- Support annual report preparation (including financial statements and disclosure notes) and submission of required statistical surveys.
Audit & Tax Support
- Support external audit and tax review activities by preparing documentation and responding to information requests.
Position Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Solid experience in manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, and general accounting
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in international and matrixed organizations
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
- Typically 5-10 years of relevant accounting experience
- Good knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
- Proficiency in SAP ECC / S4
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Translation of financial statements from English to Arabic (preferred)
