We are looking for a resourceful candidate to join our Tax team in Hyderabad, India. The Tax team is responsible for timely and accurate filings of Federal and state tax returns for U.S. entities and issuing statements (Schedule K-1s) and projections to our investors. The team does extensive tax compliance work for Partnerships and Corporations, relating to U.S. Hedge funds, U.S. Private Equity, and Management Company entities. The team performs a detailed review of tax workpapers and tax returns, a detailed analysis of financial products and their tax treatment, analyzes the book income, computes the taxable income, and its allocation to the investors using complex tax allocation methodologies. The team interacts with various internal and external stakeholders to understand the process workflows relating to trade and fund accounting and industry-wide tax practices and their reporting. The team plays a pivotal role in various tax process automation initiatives and generates tax analytical and visualization dashboards, which aid in creating efficiencies and alpha generation. Additionally, the team works with the Tax Planning team on entity structuring consultation, analyzing tax implications for new financial products, comprehending new tax regulations, and devising various strategies to optimize tax efficiency.
WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
In this role, you will prepare, review, and file federal and state tax returns, workpapers, extensions, and estimates for U.S. partnerships and corporations, supporting tax compliance for hedge funds, private equity funds, alternative investment vehicles, management company entities, SPVs, blockers, and feeder structures. You will prepare and review investor tax reporting, including Schedule K-1s, tax projections, withholding analysis, and investor-specific reporting packages, while analyzing book income, computing taxable income, and preparing book-to-tax adjustments for fund and management company entities. This includes allocating taxable income, gains, losses, deductions, expenses, and withholding items to investors using complex tax allocation methodologies, and performing detailed tax analysis of financial products, investment activity, trading strategies, and alternative investment products. You will also support partnership tax matters such as capital accounts, tax basis analysis, Section 704(b) allocations, and special allocation methodologies, and assist with private equity and hedge fund tax reporting relating to acquisitions, restructurings, exits, carried interest, waterfall allocations, and trading activity analysis. Additionally, you will support FATCA, CRS, withholding tax, investor documentation, and investor classification processes, and work with the tax planning team on entity structuring, new financial products, fund launches, restructurings, and tax-efficient investment strategies. You will interpret new tax regulations and assess their impact on fund structures, investors, tax positions, and reporting obligations, while collaborating with investment teams, legal, fund accounting, trade accounting, operations, investor relations, technology teams, external advisors, and auditors. You will track tax deliverables, filing timelines, review comments, and open items to ensure timely and accurate completion of compliance obligations, and support process automation, GenAI-enabled tools, agentic solutions, tax analytics, and visualization dashboards to improve efficiency, data quality, controls, and decision-making. Finally, you will identify opportunities to minimize tax leakage, optimize after-tax outcomes, and support value creation for the firm and its investors.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Basic qualifications:
- A CA (Chartered Accountancy) or MBA Finance with 2-4 years of work experience in Financial Services Industry, or a large audit firm
- US Tax experience in Partnerships/Corporations; Big 4 or hedge fund/PE exposure preferred
- Exceptional knowledge of Subchapter K & C, PFIC, ECI, UBTI, and fund structures (master-feeder, blocker corps, fund-of-funds)
- Proficiency in Excel and tax software (GoSystem, OneSource, CCH Axcess, or CorpTax)
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills; ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills
Preferred qualifications:
- A good understanding of financial instruments
