Job Purpose:
The Senior Azure App & Infra Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing Microsoft Azure-based infrastructure and applications solutions. This role includes driving modernization, complex Azure migration projects, applying Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices, and aligning solutions with Azure Well-Architected and Cloud Adoption Frameworks.
Job Description:
Cloud Solution Architecture:
- Design and implement Azure IaaS/PaaS architectures, aligned with business needs and best practices
- Develop modernization roadmaps and infrastructure blueprints using Microsoft CAF and WAF
- Lead end-to-end Azure migration projects, leveraging Azure Migrate and associated tooling
- Conduct migration readiness assessments and dependency analysis for rehosting, replatforming, or refactoring
- Collaborate on application modernization efforts (App Services, Containers, AKS)
Infrastructure Automation and DevOps (Preferred):
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
- Promote automation-first approaches to deployment, patching, and scaling
- Apply DevSecOps practices to integrate security in pipelines
Cloud Optimization:
- Monitor and optimize performance, security, and cost of Azure workloads
- Implement governance controls across resource groups, policies, blueprints
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex infrastructure issues
- Align systems to Azure Landing Zone principles and enterprise-scale patterns
Security and Compliance:
- Apply network security, identity protection, backup, and disaster recovery practices
- Utilize services such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Firewall, Sentinel, and Key Vault
- Ensure cloud infrastructure aligns with regulatory compliance and corporate policies
- Participate in internal reviews and audits on cloud security posture
Collaboration and Delivery:
- Act as a technical advisor during project delivery, collaborating with architects, presales, and project managers
- Participate in knowledge sharing and coaching of junior engineers
- Support handover from project to managed services teams with documentation and training
Job Specification:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
Professional Certifications:
- AZ-305: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- AZ-104: Azure Administrator Associate
Working Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years in Azure cloud engineering or solution delivery roles
- Proven track record in leading large-scale Azure migration projects
- Strong exposure to hybrid environments and modernization scenarios
Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of Azure core services: VMs, VNets, App Services, Storage, AppGW, WAF, LB, SQL/Database services
- Hands-on experience with Azure Migrate, dependency analysis, and workload transition
- Strong scripting in PowerShell (and optionally Python or Bash)
- Infrastructure-as-Code and DevOps pipelines (Terraform, Bicep, Azure DevOps)
- Familiarity with Microsoft CAF, WAF, Azure Migrate, Azure Monitor, ASR/Backup
- Solid grasp of Azure security, identity, governance, and compliance practices
- Excellent troubleshooting and performance optimization skills
- Comfortable working in Agile/DevOps environments
