Role Description The Senior Arbitration Counsel will lead and manage complex arbitration matters, from initial case assessment through to final award and enforcement. Responsibilities include drafting and reviewing arbitration clauses, pleadings, submissions, and procedural documents; advising clients on strategy, risks, and settlement options; and coordinating with local and international counsel and experts. The role involves appearing before arbitral tribunals, preparing witnesses, overseeing evidence gathering, and ensuring compliance with applicable institutional rules and Qatari law. The Senior Arbitration Counsel will mentor junior lawyers, contribute to business development, and support the firm's arbitration practice development in key sectors such as construction, banking and finance, and corporate disputes. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Lusail, requiring close collaboration with colleagues and clients.
Qualifications
  • Strong expertise in international and domestic arbitration, including case management, drafting submissions, and appearing before arbitral tribunals.
  • Solid background in commercial and construction disputes, with experience in sectors such as banking and finance, corporate, and infrastructure projects.
  • Deep understanding of Qatari law and familiarity with major arbitration rules and institutions (e.g., ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, QICCA).
  • Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and research skills, with meticulous attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex matters, lead case teams, and mentor junior lawyers in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written); Arabic language skills are highly advantageous.
  • LLB or equivalent law degree from a recognized university; postgraduate qualifications in arbitration or international dispute resolution are a plus.
  • Admission to practice in a recognized jurisdiction and substantial post-qualification experience in arbitration at a reputable law firm or institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical practice, cultural sensitivity, and collaborative teamwork.
