Role Purpose
- Analyze code and project rule libraries and determine their applicability to BIM deliverables at different project stages.
- Validate Revit and IFC models against project requirements, industry standards, and authority regulations.
- Prepare compliance reports, provide technical feedback, and coordinate corrective actions with project teams and clients.
- Support the development and implementation of digital compliance and BIM validation workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret client standards, authority requirements, and international codes (ADHA, ADIBC, Dubai Municipality, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.).
- Analyze rule libraries and classify requirements as automated, semi-automated, or manual-review checks.
- Validate Revit and IFC models across Concept, Schematic, Detailed Design, IFC/Construction Documentation, and As-Built stages.
- Identify geometry, system, classification, property-set, and data-quality non-conformities.
- Support model updates and corrective actions required to achieve compliance.
Required Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of Mechanical systems including HVAC, hydronics, ventilation systems, plant rooms, and equipment modelling.
- Strong understanding of Electrical systems including power, lighting, emergency systems, and low-voltage systems.
- Strong understanding of Plumbing and Fire Protection systems including water supply, drainage, vent, firefighting, and fire alarm systems.
- Hands-on Revit modelling experience with the ability to review, audit, and update model content directly.
Revit & BIM Data Expertise
- Deep familiarity with Revit MEP system types, element categories, connectors, sizing parameters, and calculation parameters.
- Ability to explain Revit system hierarchy, flow direction, system classification, System Type vs. System Name, and connector behavior.
- Strong understanding of shared parameters, project parameters, type parameters, and instance parameters.
- Ability to identify common BIM data-quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
IFC & OpenBIM Knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of IFC2x3 and IFC4 schema.
- Understanding of IFC entities, relationships, spatial structure, system assignments, and property sets.
- Experience reviewing IFC deliverables independently of native Revit models.
- Ability to troubleshoot Revit-to-IFC export and mapping issues.
Classification & Information Management
- Understanding of COBie, Uniclass (Ss/Pr/EF tables), OmniClass, and related classification systems.
- Knowledge of ISO 19650 information management principles, CDE workflows, BEP, EIR, AIR, MIDP, and TIDP requirements.
- Experience reviewing model deliverables for completeness, consistency, correctness, and compliance.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in BIM delivery, QA/QC, BIM coordination, design review, or BIM management.
- GCC project experience, particularly within the UAE, is strongly preferred.
- Consultant-side or developer-side experience is highly desirable.
Critical Competency
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate whether a code or project requirement can be validated using BIM data alone, identify the required model information, and define the appropriate validation methodology.
