Job Description

Main Role: We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to lead and coordinate building construction projects from planning through execution and handover. The role carries full responsibility for technical oversight, schedule control, cost awareness, and cross-functional coordination with project management, planning, procurement, contracts, and cost control teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Leadership and Governance

  • Lead and control all civil engineering and construction activities in line with project objectives, contracts, specifications, and company standards
  • Act as the main technical and coordination focal point between site teams, project management, consultants, and stakeholders
  • Support project strategy, execution planning, and decision-making across all construction stages

2. Planning, Scheduling, and Progress Control

  • Coordinate closely with Planning Engineers and Project Managers to develop, monitor, and update project schedules
  • Review construction sequences, recovery plans, and look-ahead programs
  • Monitor progress against baseline schedules and support corrective actions to meet milestones

3. Cost Control, Contracts, and Commercial Awareness

  • Work closely with Cost Control, Contracts, and Commercial teams to monitor budgets, variations, and claims
  • Support preparation and evaluation of change orders, subcontractor variations, and cost forecasts
  • Ensure construction activities align with contractual requirements and approved budgets

4. Procurement and Subcontractor Coordination

  • Coordinate with Procurement teams to support material and subcontractor selection, approvals, and delivery schedules
  • Review material submittals and ensure timely procurement aligned with construction priorities
  • Manage subcontractors performance to ensure quality, schedule, and cost compliance

5. Technical Review and Quality Management

  • Review and approve drawings, method statements, and technical submittals
  • Ensure construction works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards
  • Lead technical problem-solving and support value engineering initiatives

6. Health, Safety, and Risk Management

  • Ensure implementation of HSE requirements across all site activities
  • Identify construction and project-related risks and support mitigation measures
  • Promote a strong safety culture across project teams

7. Reporting, Stakeholder Management, and Team Leadership

  • Prepare and review project progress, cost, and performance reports
  • Support senior management with project status updates and risk assessments
  • Lead, mentor, and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in building construction projects, preferably in a project leadership role

Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Strong background in building construction and project execution
  • Proven experience coordinating planning, procurement, contracts, and cost control functions
  • Strong understanding of project controls, budgeting, and construction contracts
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and commercial documents
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project control tools (Primavera knowledge is an advantage)
  • Excellent leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
