Job Description

Support the Project Director / Senior Project Manager in execution of construction activities, ensuring the management of the interfaces with engineering and procurement departments, overseeing the availability of the construction materials and equipment. Monitoring and ensure the planning and management of the project construction activities performed by subcontractors or in direct, monitoring multidisciplinary construction works according to the contract requirements and project objectives Monitoring and ensuring time, costs, quality, safety targets are met, through direct coordination and management of a project and subcontractor construction team, interfacing with project organization, subcontractors, suppliers and clients

Monitoring and ensuring adequate support to project management Team in defining, monitoring and updating project execution plans

Policies, processes & procedures:

  • Develops and oversees the implementation of department policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of finance functional activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and codes of conduct, including strict adherence to the Zero Tolerance to Alcohol policy at all times.

Budget/Financial

  • Prepares and recommends the department budget by preparing analysis and data related to specific elements as directed.
  • Monitors the financial performance of the section against budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.

Project Specific Responsibility:

  • Responsible for construction strategies that reduce the risk of interruption of operational effectiveness.
  • Responsible to optimize project execution schedule at the right junctures to minimize risk to operational effectiveness.
  • Interact with project stakeholders to expedite transfers of custody throughout project execution. Notably construction as a predecessor and operations as a successor.
  • Drive all subcontractors, vendors and specialist subcontractors to deliver their scopes of work.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to the construction team and stakeholders to achieve the project schedule.
  • Reports to the Senior Project Manager and Project Director for Quality Management System compliance.

Day-to-day operations:

  • Manage the contract / package from award to hand over in accordance to company guidelines and standards.
  • Point of Contact and responsible for the project / package.
  • Initiate required coordination meetings with stakeholders to ensure project / package success.
  • Ensure project/package design is prepared in line with project schedules and costs.
  • Ensure procurement of materials are in line of project requirements (specs, time, costs, etc.).
  • Commercial and Correspondence management to ensure project objectives are maintained and safeguarded (variations, claims, notifications, minutes of meetings, PO's, RFI's, etc.).
  • Review and advice of technicalities of in-house products and system.
  • Coordinate and manage logistic requirements.
  • Constantly support the construction team with required modifications as per site condition and or design changes.
  • Liaise with Partners and Sub-contractors on Safety issues
  • Overseeing fabrication work schedules and deadlines to ensure that projects are completed on time.
  • Monitoring product quality throughout the production process to ensure that it meets company standards.
  • Liaise with Project Delivery manager & Senior Project Engineer & to review construction plan, build strategies in order to formalize the optimum utilization of department equipment and resources.
  • Maintaining communication with clients during each phase of the project to ensure that they are satisfied with the progress
  • Provide work done reports and descriptions to Project Delivery Manager to allocate budget as per the tariff and ensure that commercial targets are met.
  • Proactive participation in identifying errors and effective reporting.
  • Ensure field reports are done timely and with good justify.
  • Maintain a daily log of the work carried out. Log to include status of ongoing tasks including any delays or issues which may influence future works
  • Ensure materials availability on site
  • Participating in any necessary training or certification programs to keep up with changes in technology within the industry.
  • Train, motivate, appraise and provide feedback on training requirements to uplift the skill of subordinates. Interface with other Project Engineers to ensure integration /co-ordination with other delivery tasks.

Typical Scope (Topside):

  • Structural steel fabrication/assembly, modules, skids, blast & paint touch-ups
  • Mechanical equipment setting, alignment support, rotating/static packages installation readiness
  • Piping fabrication, installation, testing support (incl. flushing/blowing readiness coordination)
  • Electrical & Instrumentation installation (trays, cables, terminations), telecom
  • HVAC, fire & gas, safety systems installation
  • Supports system completion and handover to commissioning.

  • Ensuring suitable resources are available to achieve satisfactory OHS compliance of all work within their responsibility
  • Ensuring that there is a documented Risk Management process for all work within their responsibility
  • Driving continuous Safety improvement through setting, monitoring and reporting on safety performance against objectives within their department
  • Ensuring identified corrective actions assigned to their department are closed out by agreed due dates
  • Demonstrating desired behaviors and leading, encouraging and communicating on safety issues when interacting with the workforce
  • Meeting all responsibilities as outlined in the DDW OHSMS
  • Participating in any training and safety initiatives implemented by the Company
  • Complying with all Safety directives, and work instructions
  • Immediately reporting any incident or potential hazard to their Supervisor or Safety Dept
  • STOP the task if you feel yourself or others may be harmed.
  • Device and implement controls to ensure no violation of ISR regulations in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties

Leadership and People Management:

  • Supervises the activities and work of subordinates by providing formal and informal feedback to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance with set individual targets.

  • Support the management of change through continuous improvement of departmental systems, processes and practices taking into account international best practice, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.

Continuous improvement

  • Stimulates subordinates and contributes to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account international best practice, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Reporting

  • Supervises the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet company and department requirements, policies and standards

Related Assignments:

  • Performs other related duties or assignments as directed.

Technical competencies:

  • Stong knowledge and experience in topside module construction.
  • Strong analytical skills required to review all project information and ensure accuracy as well as identify issues, concerns and potential mitigations.
  • Experience with cost control including project estimating, forecasting and cost management including reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and successfully execute tasks in accordance with business objectives.
  • Project management skills.
  • Broad knowledge of the Floating Facilities, Fixed Facilities and renewables industries
  • Basic knowledge of planning software and scheduling
  • Familiarity with project management systems, applicable international codes and standards, and project specifications.
  • Project / contract management, communication, reporting and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and successfully execute tasks in accordance with business objectives.
  • Proven ability to manage project team in a major project environment.
  • Proficient in MS office applications.
  • Fully trained and knowledgeable with relevant Safety and Occupational Health & Safety standards

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical / Structural / Marine / Electrical) or equivalent.

Lifting/rigging awareness and construction management certifications are an advantage

Master's Degree in relevant field.

14+ years relevant experience with an international EPC company
