Job Summary
Senior Cost Control Engineer is responsible for monitoring project costs, forecasting expenditures, and ensuring effective cost control in accordance with approved budgets and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain project cost control systems, budgets, and cost breakdown structures in line with the consultancy scope.
- Monitor project costs, commitments, and expenditures against approved budgets and cash flow forecasts.
- Prepare detailed cost reports, earned value analysis (EVA), and financial dashboards for management and clients.
- Analyze cost variances, trends, and risks, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with planning engineers to ensure accurate timecost integration and forecasting.
- Review contractors interim payment applications, cost claims, and financial submissions.
- Support preparation of project budgets, revisions, and change control processes.
- Assist in evaluation of variations and claims from a cost impact perspective.
- Monitor contingency usage and advise on cost risk management strategies.
- Support project cash flow management and financial planning.
- Participate in project progress meetings and commercial review sessions.
- Assist in project financial close-out, final cost reporting, and lessons learned.
- Develop and maintain cost control templates, procedures, and reporting standards.
- Guide and mentor junior cost control engineers and review their deliverables.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience with minimum 3 experience years in cost control within engineering consultancy or construction companies.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and cost control software/tools.
- Solid understanding of project budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls.
