About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating credit applications across corporate, commercial, and retail segments, ensuring sound credit decisions aligned with regulatory and internal guidelines. You will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our credit portfolio, supporting business units, and contributing to the overall risk management framework of the Bank.

What you will be doing

Evaluation

  • Provide thorough credit risk evaluation of applications submitted by various business units, identifying and mitigating key risk issues.
  • Approve credit applications within your Delegated Lending Authority (DLA) or escalate with recommendations as required.
  • Review and validate credit risk grades for corporate and commercial applications; ensure product parameters and regulatory requirements are met for retail applications.
  • Evaluate and decide on operational and administrative requests such as variations in terms and conditions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market sentiments, and their implications on banking activities.

Compliance

  • Ensure all credit applications comply with the Bank's credit policies, internal guidelines, and regulatory requirements including MAS Notices and the Banking Act.
  • Address and resolve issues raised by auditors and regulators related to credit matters.

Others

  • Undertake ad-hoc projects and assignments from the Head of Credit Evaluation or Senior Credit Manager.
  • Conduct joint customer visits with business units to gain deeper insights and provide guidance on credit structuring.
  • Support the department's daily operations and administrative functions.

What we're looking for

  • Degree or professional qualifications in Business, Accounting, Banking, Finance, Economics, or related fields.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in credit risk evaluation or analysis across corporate, SME, and retail lending. Candidates with relevant credit risk qualifications and less experience may also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of MAS statutory requirements, especially for retail lending.
  • Excellent credit writing and analytical skills in corporate/SME lending.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
