Role Description The Senior Database Administrator is a part-time hybrid role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with flexibility for some work from home. This role is responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing databases that support Khalid Bin Sultan City's smart city and AI-driven systems. Day-to-day tasks include configuring and maintaining database environments, ensuring data integrity and security, performing regular backups and recovery, and tuning performance across multiple platforms. The Senior Database Administrator will collaborate with technology, data, and operations teams to design scalable data models, support application development, and troubleshoot complex database issues. The role also involves implementing standards, documentation, and best practices to ensure reliable, secure, and sustainable data infrastructure aligned with the city's core pillars.

Qualifications

Strong database administration skills, including Database Administration and Databases, with experience managing production environments.
Proficiency in database architecture and design, covering Database Design and Data Modeling for scalable and secure systems.
Advanced Analytical Skills to diagnose performance issues, optimize queries, and support data-driven decision-making.
Experience with modern relational and/or NoSQL database platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB) and related tools.
Knowledge of backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies in hybrid and cloud-based environments.
Understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance standards relevant to smart city and infrastructure projects.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., MCDBA, Oracle DBA) are an advantage.
Experience in large-scale urban development, smart city initiatives, or AI-driven systems is highly beneficial.
