Job Description

Position: Senior Database Administrator

Contract Duration: 3 Months (with possibility of extension)

Joining: ASAP

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to lead database administration and data-layer operations for the Fan-ID platform, supporting a sporting event in Saudi Arabia.

This role is critical to ensuring secure, highly available, and scalable databases that support complex integrations, real-time workloads, and peak traffic during live events. The DBA will define database architecture standards, manage multi-environment and multi-region deployments, and ensure data reliability across mobile, web, backend, CRM, and third-party systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own database administration and data-layer operations for Fan-ID applications, including CRM, Azure, and multiple database technologies
  • Design, implement, and maintain relational and non-relational databases
  • Ensure databases are secure, highly available, and scalable, capable of handling high-traffic live event workloads
  • Define and implement database architecture standards and best practices
  • Design and maintain logical and physical data models
  • Support multi-environment and multi-region database strategies
  • Optimize database performance via:
  • Query tuning and indexing
  • Execution plan analysis
  • Data model optimization
  • Design and manage High Availability (HA) configurations, replication, failover, backup, restore, and Disaster Recovery (DR) plans
  • Implement and enforce database security best practices
  • Collaborate with application, integration, security, and DevOps teams for end-to-end data reliability
  • Plan and execute database-focused testing, including:
  • Performance and load testing
  • Failover and recovery testing
  • Backup and restore validation
  • Data integrity and consistency checks

Required Experience & Skills

  • Hands-on experience as a Database Administrator in production environments
  • Strong expertise with relational databases:
  • SQL Server
  • PostgreSQL
  • Oracle
  • MySQL
  • Experience with NoSQL databases:
  • Cosmos DB
  • MongoDB
  • Equivalent platforms
  • Solid experience with database performance tuning and optimization
  • Proven experience implementing:
  • High Availability (HA)
  • Replication and failover strategies
  • Disaster recovery (DR) plans
  • Experience supporting large-scale, high-traffic platforms
  • Understanding of event-driven and microservices-based architectures from a data perspective
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-hosted databases:
  • Azure (preferred)
  • AWS
  • GCP

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with identity platforms, ticketing systems, or large event ecosystems
  • Familiarity with real-time systems and live-event traffic patterns
  • Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code practices
