Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team, responsible for the operation, performance, security, and resilience of all database platforms. The role ensures data availability for core business applications while maintaining compliance with SAMA and regulatory requirements, in coordination with the Cybersecurity Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and tune production and non-production databases to meet defined SLAs.
- Design and execute backup, recovery, and DR procedures including periodic restore tests.
- Implement database security controls: access control, encryption, data masking, and DAM.
- Manage privileged access and segregation of duties in coordination with Cybersecurity.
- Apply patches and upgrades, manage HA/replication topology across Main, DR, and secondary sites.
- Conduct vulnerability scans, hardening reviews, and configuration baseline checks.
- Support application teams on schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures.
- Produce audit and compliance evidence for SAMA, internal audit, and external assessors.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of DBA experience, financial sector experience preferred.
- Strong expertise in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL; NoSQL experience is a plus.
- Experience with HA/DR technologies (Always On, Data Guard, replication).
- Knowledge of SAMA Cyber Security and IT Governance Frameworks.
- Database or security certifications (CISSP, CCSP) are a plus.
