Job Title:Senior Design Engineer – Automation & System Integration

Role Purpose
The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design and engineering of advanced automation and digitalization solutions within Abunayyan Holding's Automation & System Integration SBU.
The role focuses on delivering scalable, cost-effective, and compliant system designs across Industry 4.0 applications, including SCADA, BMS, PLC, DCS, and IoT-enabled solutions, ensuring alignment with client requirements, technical standards, and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. System Design & Engineering
- Develop detailed engineering designs for automation and system integration projects.
- Prepare and review:
- System architecture and network topology
- Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
- Control philosophies and sequences of operation
- IO lists and BOQs
- Design solutions for:
- SCADA systems
- BMS (Building Management Systems)
- PLC / DCS-based control systems
- Smart and IoT-enabled platforms
2. Technical Submittals & Documentation
- Prepare technical submittals, compliance statements, and design documentation.
- Ensure alignment with project specifications, client requirements, and international standards.
- Review consultant and client comments and incorporate design revisions accordingly.
3. Costing & Estimation Support
- Support pre-sales and tendering teams in preparing cost-effective technical proposals.
- Develop accurate BOQs and estimation inputs based on design requirements.
- Optimize design to achieve cost efficiency without compromising quality.
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and site teams to ensure smooth execution.
- Provide technical guidance to AutoCAD and drafting teams.
- Coordinate with vendors, OEMs, and subcontractors for technical alignment.
5. System Integration Design
- Design integration strategies between various systems including HVAC, electrical, instrumentation, and smart systems.
- Ensure compatibility and interoperability across multiple platforms and protocols.
6. Compliance & Standards
- Ensure designs comply with international standards and client-specific requirements.
- Follow internal engineering procedures, quality standards, and documentation control.
7. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Stay updated with emerging technologies in Industry 4.0, IoT, and digital transformation.
- Propose innovative solutions to enhance system performance, scalability, and sustainability.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automation design and system integration.
- Proven experience in designing SCADA, BMS, PLC, and digital solutions.
- Experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC projects is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of automation platforms such as Siemens, Schneider Electric, ABB, Honeywell
- Experience with SCADA platforms (e.g., WinCC, Wonderware, Ignition)
- Knowledge of BMS/DDC systems and smart building technologies
- Familiarity with communication protocols: BACnet, Modbus, OPC
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and control schematics
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering design tools
