Position Objective:
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for reviewing and approving ELV designs, developing technical standards and specifications, ensuring compliance with project requirements, coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces, and supporting project delivery variety of tasks related to technical responsibilities.
Job Description & Responsibilities:
- Develop standards and specifications for ELV and Power systems in accordance with project requirements
- Participate in tender preparation, bidders profile reviews and technical evaluations
- Review different stages for Power and ELV designs (concept, schematic, generic prototype design, detailed adaptive site-specific design, MARs, IFCs, and shop drawings)
- Review different elements of Power / Electrical designs such as but not limited to Power Systems (LV/MV), Transformers & Generators, Main Switchboards & Power Distribution, Generators, UPS & BUP, Grounding & Earthing, Lighting, PV Systems, EV Charging Infrastructure and Power Monitoring Systems
- Review different elements of ELV designs such as but not limited to Structured Cabling Systems, Data Networks, Server Rooms, IPTV, PA, Digital Signage, CCTV, Access Control Systems, Vehicle Access Systems, Smart Parking, and BMS
- Ensure compliance with local codes, international standards, project specifications and sustainability objectives
- Verify space allocation for data rooms and power systems
- Ensure maintainability and accessibility requirements are incorporated into the design
- Coordinate design interfaces and compatibility with different stakeholders including but not limited to architectural, structural, civil, MEP, ICT, ELV, security, and Others
- Identify technical risks, design gaps, inconsistencies, and carry out necessary troubleshooting and value engineering opportunities
- Assess CAPEX and OPEX implications of design decisions
- Oversee installation methodologies, operation and maintenance manuals
- Provide technical support during implementation phase
- Support as-built model updates and handover documentations review
- Participate in outlining project specifications document for owner future reference ensuring space for expansion, enhancement and optimization
- Review BIM models for engineering coordination and oversee clashes resolutions and interface issues.
- Review and approve commissioning plans and procedures.
- Review different tests reports such as Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) .. etc.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent.
- 5-10 Years of experience with a solid understanding of telecommunications industry standards inlcuding IEEE.
- Strong knowledge of Electrical Design, ELV Design, PV and Security Systems Design
- Proven experience in design review through commissioning and handover phases
- Experience reviewing large-scale commercial, industrial, logistics, healthcare, hospitality, mixed-use, airport, transportation, or mission-critical projects
- Strong knowledge and practical application of the Electrical and ELV related codes, standards, regulations such as SBC, ANSI, NFPA and IEC
- Strong coordination capability and the ability to resolve design clashes proactively
- Ability to work in fast-paced design environments
- Advance level in REVIT, Navisworks and CAD (mandatory)
- Understanding of LODs 200 - 500
- LEED or sustainability awareness / certifications would be a plus
- CDCP certification would be a plus
