Senior Drilling Data & Optimization Consultant

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Drilling Data & Optimization Consultant to support digital drilling and well engineering initiatives for a major oil and gas operator. The successful candidate will bring a combination of drilling domain expertise, data management capabilities, and performance optimization experience to help improve well delivery, data quality, and operational efficiency across drilling operations.

This position is ideal for candidates who have worked within drilling engineering, digital well planning, drilling analytics, drilling applications, real-time operations, or drilling data management environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Support digital drilling and well planning workflows across the well lifecycle.
• Analyze drilling performance data to identify optimization opportunities and reduce invisible lost time (ILT).
• Work with drilling, wells, and subsurface teams to improve data quality, consistency, and accessibility.
• Configure, manage, and support drilling data management systems and associated applications.
• Participate in digital transformation and drilling optimization projects.
• Collaborate with software developers, data engineers, and technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into practical solutions.
• Support integration of drilling and well data from multiple sources and platforms.
• Develop performance reports, dashboards, and recommendations for operational improvement.
• Facilitate workshops and engage with end users to drive adoption of digital drilling solutions.
• Provide subject matter expertise on drilling engineering workflows, data structures, and industry best practices.
  
  

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8+ years of oil and gas industry experience.
• Strong background in drilling engineering, well planning, drilling optimization, drilling operations, or drilling data management.
• Experience working with drilling data platforms, real-time drilling data, and reporting environments.
• Understanding of drillingKPIs including:
  • ROP
  • WOB
  • Torque
  • Hookload
  • Standpipe Pressure
  • Vibration and drilling dysfunction indicators
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including drilling, wells, subsurface, and digital technology groups.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and consulting skills.
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Experience with WITSML data and drilling data integrations.
• Knowledge of drilling data quality improvement initiatives.
• Exposure to drilling performance analytics and optimization workflows.
• Experience supporting agile project delivery or digital product development.
• Previous rig-site, wellsite, or operational drilling experience.
• Experience supporting digital oilfield or drilling automation projects.
