Senior Electrical Design Engineer BIM

Job Overview:

Alogayell Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer – BIM to join our team at our New Cairo office.

The successful candidate must have strong electrical design and technical coordination capabilities, comprehensive knowledge of the Saudi Building Code, proven experience working on projects in Saudi Arabia, and advanced practical experience using BIM and Autodesk Revit MEP.

The candidate will be responsible for developing and coordinating electrical systems from concept design through detailed design and construction documentation, ensuring compliance with Saudi regulations, client requirements, BIM standards, safety requirements, and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

-Lead the design and development of electrical systems from concept through detailed design and construction documentation.

- Design low-voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and backup power systems.

- Design and coordinate low-current systems, including fire alarm, data, telephone, CCTV, access control, public address, and other ELV systems.

-Prepare electrical load calculations, voltage-drop calculations, short-circuit calculations, cable sizing, breaker selection, and panel schedules.

-Develop single-line diagrams, electrical layouts, equipment schedules, technical details, and specifications.

-Perform lighting calculations and prepare lighting designs using appropriate engineering software.

-Develop electrical drawings and project deliverables using Autodesk Revit MEP and BIM workflows.

-Create, manage, and update electrical BIM models throughout the project lifecycle.

-Ensure all electrical designs comply with the Saudi Building Code, Saudi Electrical Code, Civil Defense requirements, utility-provider standards, and relevant authority regulations.

-Coordinate electrical systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, infrastructure, and other engineering disciplines.

-Identify and resolve design clashes and coordination issues using Revit and Navisworks.

-Ensure BIM models are accurate, properly structured, coordinated, and compliant with the project's BIM Execution Plan.

-Prepare electrical calculation reports, technical specifications, bills of quantities, design criteria, and authority-submission packages.

-Review electrical drawings, BIM models, calculations, and technical submissions for accuracy and completeness.

- Review shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, and contractor technical queries.

-Participate in client meetings, design reviews, value-engineering workshops, and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.

-Provide technical support during tendering and construction stages when required.

-Guide and review the work of junior electrical engineers and BIM team members.

-Ensure projects are delivered according to the agreed scope, schedule, quality standards, and client requirements.

Requirements:

-Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.

-Minimum of 8 years of relevant electrical design experience, preferably within architectural or engineering consultancy firms.

- Proven experience working on electrical projects located in Saudi Arabia.

-Strong and up-to-date knowledge of the Saudi Building Code, Saudi electrical requirements, and applicable authority regulations.

-Strong knowledge of power distribution, lighting, emergency power, grounding, lightning protection, and ELV systems.

-Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP is mandatory.

-Strong practical experience in BIM modeling, electrical documentation, model coordination, clash detection, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

-Good knowledge of BIM standards, naming conventions, model federation, Levels of Development (LOD), and BIM Execution Plans.

-Proficiency in Navisworks, AutoCAD, ETAP, DIALux, and other relevant electrical design software.

-Previous experience in commercial, office, hospitality, residential, mixed-use, or institutional projects is preferred.

- Experience preparing electrical calculations, specifications, bills of quantities, and authority-submission packages.

-Strong understanding of constructability, value engineering, energy efficiency, and cost-effective electrical solutions.

-Excellent analytical ability, technical judgment, and attention to detail.

-Strong communication, coordination, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

-Good command of written and spoken English.

-Ability to manage multiple projects and meet demanding deadlines.

Work Requirements:

-This is a full-time, office-based position.

-The selected candidate must work from our office in New Cairo, Egypt.

-Remote, hybrid, and freelance arrangements are not available for this position.

-Candidates must be able to work fully within a BIM-based project environment.
