Site-based role reporting to the Senior Project Manager. Working along with the team in delivering the Design deliverables, Engineering reviews and site inspections of the implementation of a design encompassing BMS, IT, ELV, Security and Life safety systems for mission-critical facilities.
Assisting and coordinating with Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical design teams in maintaining design quality and project schedule with respect to Security, Communications, Life Safety and Automated Systems.
The role encompasses both technical expertise and leadership skills to guide the team and ensure the quality, efficiency, and compliance of ELV system designs and installations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems (Telecommunication and CCTV/Security), from conceptual design phase to the construction phase.
- Preparation of ELV Systems tender packages including drawings and specifications.
- Responsible for chairing coordination meetings with the contractors to ensure that the intended design/shop Drawings are implemented.
- Review contractor's material submittals and shop drawings to ensure their compliance with the project drawings and specifications.
- Responsible for site inspections as and when raised, to ensure implemented standards are satisfactory.
- Coordination with other Discipline Engineers (Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical) as applicable.
Project Management Duties
- Responsible for the design review of the IT, Telecom, ELV, BMS, Security and Life Safety services.
- Responsible for reviewing all Submittals and shop drawings and participating in selecting the Specialists considering Budget, Time, and Construction Program.
- Participation in design review meetings and workshops. If required.
- Preparation of meeting records, design review and design progress reports.
- Liaise with Local suppliers / Contractors to ensure adherence to standards and scope of works required by the client.
- Coordinate with design managers undertaking close-out work in all stages of the design development.
- Oversee and provide on-site supervision during the installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning of systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
- Conduct quality checks and inspections to ensure proper functioning, performance, and compliance of installed systems.
Experience and Qualifications
- Mechanical/Electronics engineer degree or similar
- 08+ years of data centre infrastructure (Power/ cooling and ELV) experience
- Qualified (BEng or above with electrical / mechanical engineering degree or similar)
- Experience with data centre testing and commissioning
- Working knowledge of Uptime Tiers & TIA 942-B ATD not essential but beneficial
- Excellent work ethic and proactive individual
- Capable of working under own initiative and as part of a team
- Good communicator, both in writing, on the telephone and face to face with customers
- Excellent English skills -written and verbal
- Good numeracy skills
- Competent in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
- Able to prioritise tasks and manage time, to meet tight project deadlines
- Good technical and proposals and submittals management
- Good technical review ability
- Ensure smooth management of the pre-sales and design projects
- Ability to carry out site surveys and develop concept to schematic designs
- CAD/Revit proficiency
- Willingness to travel in the region
