Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer – Private Cloud to design, implement, and operate enterprise-grade VMware-based private cloud environments for managed services clients. The role is responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure while ensuring operational excellence, automation, and continuous service improvement. The successful candidate will lead private cloud deployments, virtualization, cloud automation, infrastructure optimization, and client-facing technical engagements across enterprise environments.
Key Accountabilities
- Design, implement, and support VMware-based private cloud solutions using vSphere, vSAN, NSX/NSX-T, and VMware Cloud Director (VCD).
- Build scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Integrate VMware technologies with existing enterprise IT environments.
- Ensure infrastructure performance, scalability, resilience, and capacity planning.
- Manage day-to-day operations of VMware private cloud environments.
- Perform upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, and health monitoring.
- Implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and configuration standards.
- Ensure high availability, security compliance, and service reliability.
- Develop automation using VMware Aria Suite, PowerCLI, Python, PowerShell, and Ansible.
- Automate provisioning, monitoring, patch management, and operational workflows.
- Optimize cloud performance, utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities across infrastructure services.
- Engage with enterprise customers to understand technical and business requirements.
- Deliver private cloud migrations, modernization initiatives, and workload optimization.
- Act as an escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents.
- Provide technical recommendations aligned with VMware best practices.
- Work closely with networking, storage, security, and application teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge across the organization.
- Participate in technical workshops, architecture discussions, and solution reviews.
- Promote operational excellence and infrastructure best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- VMware certifications such as VCP-DCV, VCAP-DCV, or VMware Cloud certifications
Minimum Experience
- 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise private cloud environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, vSAN, VMware Cloud Director (VCD), NSX, and NSX-T.
- Experience working within Managed Services, Cloud Operations, or IT Consulting environments.
