JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE

Oversee structural project execution, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence. Coordinates site activities, mentors team members and subcontractors, manages technical queries, and ensures compliance with HSES standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Interface Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact between commissioning, construction, engineering, vendors, and client representatives to coordinate all interface-related activities.
  • Develop and maintain the Commissioning Interface Register, tracking responsibilities, dependencies, and handovers.
  • Resolve interface conflicts to ensure seamless execution of commissioning milestones.
  • Planning and Coordination
  • Participate in project planning sessions to define commissioning scope, sequence, and resource requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain commissioning interface plans and schedules.
  • Ensure readiness reviews and interface checks are completed prior to system handover for commissioning.
  • Compliance and Procedures
  • Verify that all commissioning activities comply with HSES policies, quality standards, project specifications, and regulatory/class requirements.
  • Review and approve interface-specific commissioning procedures and ensure all related documentation is in place.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Liaise with class surveyors, client site teams, and vendor representatives to align expectations and address interface issues promptly.
  • Attend project meetings, technical reviews, and readiness assessments
  • Technical Support and Execution Oversight
  • Provide expert guidance on commissioning strategy, sequence, and integration with other disciplines.
  • Support troubleshooting during pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up phases.
  • Ensure all systems and subsystems are verified and validated prior to client acceptance.
  • Quality and Completion
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and closure of punch lists.
  • Ensure Inspection Test Records (ITRs) and completion dossiers accurately reflect commissioning progress and acceptance criteria.
  • Risk Management
  • Identify interface-related risks and develop mitigation measures.
  • Monitor progress against interface milestones and proactively address potential delays.
  • Team Development
  • Mentor junior commissioning engineers and coordinators in effective interface management practices.
  • Training & coaching production disciplines for the first time have the right mechanical completion strategy to ensure that systems are 100% ready for commissioning at the required scheduled time.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Review Vendors schedule and assignment, concerning the commissioning and start up activities
  • Work in conjunction with the production team to effectively achieve the requirements of the project.
  • Analyse and develop new methods to improve existing testing procedures and commissioning plans.
  • Operate the lock out / tag out (energisation / isolation) procedure prepared by safety.
  • Verify the preparation of the HSE Plan and Procedure for commissioning, and start up test run
  • Ensure all commissioning activities are carried out safely.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSES) procedures and responsibilities.
  • Manage the process of defining the project requirements for pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up / handover.
  • Provide first line contact with project managers, class surveyor, client site team, local and offshore vendors to ensure all commissioning requirements are meeting class and project specifications and are in keeping with Company procedures.
  • Ensure that the commissioning personnel are fully aware of the procedures and their responsibilities on site.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education Degree/professional qualification in a relevant discipline

Experience At least 9 - 12 years experience in the shipyard.
