The opportunity
The Senior Engineer – Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering contributes to the design, implementation, and provides support for large-scale private cloud infrastructure, with a focus on compute, virtualization, operating systems, orchestration, automation, and platform services.
The role is hands-on and focused on deploying, operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing compute and virtualization platforms across Cloud and HPC environments.
Your key responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and operation of large-scale private cloud, virtualization, and container platforms based on OpenStack, Red Hat OpenShift, and related infrastructure technologies.
- Implement and manage compute, virtualization, operating system, hypervisor, and orchestration services across production and non-production environments.
- Collaborate with architecture, product, and platform engineering teams on technology evaluation, integration, and solution design.
- Perform capacity planning and support forecasting to ensure cloud and virtualization platforms meet current and future demand.
- Implement technical changes to improve platform reliability, high availability, and operational resilience.
- Analyze and optimize platform performance, including compute efficiency, resource utilization, and responsiveness.
- Participate in complex production changes, upgrades, migrations, and maintenance activities in collaboration with operations teams.
- Develop and maintain automation for deployment, upgrades, validation, and Day 2 operations using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and configuration management tools.
- Develop automated testing and validation workflows for cloud platforms using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies.
- Provide expert support, including on-call support, incident resolution, root cause analysis, complex troubleshooting, and escalation management with vendor support.
- Collaborate with observability and operations teams to improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and platform visibility.
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure compute, virtualization, and cloud platforms are secure, hardened, and compliant with cybersecurity requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including implementation guides, operational procedures, diagrams, and knowledge base articles.
- Prepare and deliver technical knowledge transfer sessions for operational teams.
- Work with process and operations teams to improve support workflows, operational procedures, and collaboration efficiency.
What we're looking for
(a) Required skills / qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technology discipline.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing private cloud, virtualization, or infrastructure platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with OpenStack in large-scale environments is required. Additional experience with platforms such as Apache CloudStack, Nutanix, Proxmox, or Red Hat OpenShift is an advantage.
- Proven experience in deploying and operating large-scale public or private cloud environments is required. Experience within a cloud service provider environment is strongly preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience with compute technologies, including x86 hardware, KVM, operating systems, and orchestration services.
- Expert-level Linux administration skills, including troubleshooting of Linux-based infrastructure environments.
- Strong understanding of hardware architecture and components, including x86/ARM, NUMA, memory channels, NICs, firmware, and server lifecycle management.
- Good understanding of data center networking concepts, including the OSI model, TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, load balancing, VLAN/VXLAN, and related technologies.
- Good understanding of storage types, architectures, and protocols, including object, block, and file storage.
- Good understanding of cloud-native concepts, Kubernetes, containers, and platform services.
- Hands-on experience with deployment, upgrade, validation, and Day 2 operations automation using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and configuration management practices.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or similar technologies.
- Strong scripting or programming skills using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
- Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK Stack.
- Understanding of software-defined infrastructure, CI/CD principles, and infrastructure lifecycle automation.
- Experience with ITSM tools such as Jira, Redmine, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of GPU hardware, AI accelerators, and HPC infrastructure is an advantage.
- Relevant certifications in Linux, virtualization, cloud computing, OpenStack, Kubernetes, or OpenShift are advantageous.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
