We are seeking a Senior Engineer Projects & Mobilizations, a regional role within DC Engineering & Asset Management, reporting to the Manager, DC Engineering. The role is responsible for leading the technical execution and mobilization of engineering projects across critical infrastructure sites, including data centers and other high-availability facilities. This position supports and reviews the technical requirements for site operations and oversees site mobilization as well as engineering projects, including expansions and upgrades. The role ensures that all activities align with data center performance, reliability, and efficiency standards.
Additionally, the role is responsible for ensuring a seamless transition from project planning to operational readiness, while maintaining compliance with SFG20, OSHAD, and UAE-specific regulatory frameworks.
This role further ensures timely and effective resolution of incidents and technical issues and includes providing technical expertise and driving continuous improvement in service delivery. The role will further focus on maintaining high system availability, optimizing support processes, and delivering exceptional support to site operations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead engineering design reviews, risk assessments, and commissioning plans for new and retrofit projects.
- Oversee installation, testing, and integration of electrical, mechanical, and safety systems.
- Ensure all project deliverables meet regulatory and client specifications.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams for timely execution.
- Review the maintenance of power, cooling, HVAC and mechanical systems, ensuring continuous availability and redundancy for data center operations
- Oversee and manage Data Center infrastructure upgrade projects, including planning, budgeting, vendor selection and execution for data center operations
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify challenges and develop engineering solutions for new builds, expansions and retrofits
- Ensure full compliance of data center operations with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols, including ISO, Uptime Institute, and local regulations
- Support to develop and maintain engineering documentation, SOPs and best practices to ensure operational consistency across the data center portfolio
- Review & optimize preventive and corrective maintenance programs to improve system reliability and minimize unplanned downtime for smooth data center operations
- Identify and address single points of failure (SPOFs), implementing redundancy measures for critical infrastructure components
- Drive continuous improvement by evaluating emerging technologies and industry innovations to enhance data center engineering best practices
- Coordinate & liaises with project team and execute mobilization plans for new sites, including level 4& ISAT testing's, handover documentations review and accept, asset collection and onboarding, support the preventive maintenance setup, and compliance documentation.
- Review the maintenance library (Checklist) and workflows based on asset type (e.g., generators, lifts, fire systems).
- Coordinate & liaises with project team & OEM partners, & train site operations teams on operational protocols such as SOP, MOP & EOP, and audit readiness.
- Ensure CAFM and SharePoint systems are updated with mobilization data.
- Follow the documentation of processes, incident reports, and resolution playbooks is up-to-date and accessible.
- Incident and Problem Management
- Oversee the resolution of escalated technical issues, ensuring adherence to SLAs and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for major incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address recurring issues and improve system reliability.
- Provide regular updates to the manager on operational performance and improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all support activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to technical support operations and data centre infrastructure.
- Collaboration and Strategic Support
- Support the Manager DC Eng & Asset management in executing strategic initiatives and achieving departmental goals.
- Apply SFG20 and UAE standards to all technical outputs.
- Conduct gap analysis and implement corrective actions for compliance deviations.
- Prepare audit-ready documentation and customer-facing reports.
- The job holder may be required to undertake additional duties, which may be reasonably expected and forms part of the function of the job.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years in operational engineering, mobilizations, or critical infrastructure
- Bachelors in mechanical/electrical engineering or related field Certifications in Data Center Management, Infrastructure Engineering or related areas are preferred
Minimum Skills / Requirements:
- Understanding of data center redundancy, resiliency planning and critical infrastructure management
- Ability to develop engineering strategies for high-availability data center environments
- Knowledge of asset lifecycle management, predictive maintenance and failure mode analysis
- Familiarity with data center commissioning, retrofitting and capacity planning
- Understanding of power systems (UPS, generators, electrical distribution) and cooling systems (HVAC, CRAC units).
- Familiarity with automation tools and infrastructure monitoring solutions.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management to collaborate across departments and executive teams
- Knowledge in CAFM, SharePoint, AutoCAD, MS Project
Training/Certifications Preferred:
- CDCP: Certified Data Center Professional
- AOS/ATD Uptime Certifications
- Energy Efficiency Certifications (ASHRAE, LEED)
